This discussion is WAY better than the P***a one. Good thing that was nipped in the bud to clear the way for this riveting exchange.

I guess i can be proud in knowing no US state has a more favorable ratio of no to yes votes than michigan.

Face it, this is just a place to "hang out" untill the thread with the "breaking news" is opened up. The first person with either a positive or negative outcome to report will not post it in here.

By looking at the numbers from that poll...it seems only maybe a dozen at most people voted from each state. Not very accurate. Look how many 66% 33%..maybe only 3 or 6 people voted for those states.

Logic stated as much, but ESPN is reporting that today is the 'drop dead' day.

NHL expected to announce cancellation of '05-'06 season on Fri.

(National-NBC) Feb. 4, 2005 - A sports milestone could be reached on Friday, but it won't be a good one. ESPN is reporting the National Hockey League will call off the rest of its season, barring a miraculous, last-minute labor settlement.

Players and owners have been talking for months, but every time it's ended the same way. NHL Chief Legal Officer Bill Daly says, "It's disappointing. I can't say that during our meeting today they did anything other that listen to what we had to say."

Now there is speculation that on Friday the NHL will cancel the rest of its 2004-2005 schedule, becoming the first major North American sports league to lose an entire season over a labor dispute.

Team owners locked out the players in September, saying the league needed a salary cap to survive. Players have refused to consider any such cap.

Hockey fans and businesses that rely on the sport have found themselves trapped in the middle. Pittsburgh restaurant owner Kevin Joyce says, "It's gonna be a dramatic impact on our top and bottom lines, and it's really happening at the worst possible time."

The last time the NHL failed to award its Stanley Cup was in 1919 when the final series between Seattle and Montreal was called off because of a flu epidemic.

I am still waiting for my bonus cheque. All kidding aside, I just want it to get back on topic without having to give members warnings and stuff.

Everytime the boards crash, I head directly to tsn.ca and sportsnet.ca to see if something has happened. Hopefully the news is good and Scott Bowman and his next Saturday prediction can come true.
