speaking of which, did HF do away with its free sports book? lol if they did, just make the whole thing a slot machine.
Nope. Still there.
They did remove the balance on posters avatar details on the left though... everyone used to have their balance shown and now nobody does so... I don't know... that is harmless fun. I bet on that, but I'd never place a bet in r/l.... just have no interest in it... never around it as a kid, never knew anyone, never heard about or talked about gambling... so... weird to see it so in your face now, tv/commercials/apps/ads galore/on teams clothing ! HAHA (my favorite) like you're a punk if you don't.... mmmhmmm... yeah that doesn't work on me.

It's obvious the team doesn't have the offensive depth to play the way Sullivan wants to play, it's obvious that the team can't or won't play a strong 60 minutes defensively. The coaches job is to put them in the best position to win and come up with a game plan and same with the PP. Ergo, fire the coach already…works elsewhere. Minn just won their game last night w a new coach lol

You are reaching into dark corners mate... gambling is one thing, alcohol also, but alcohol is wildly wildly over consumed by people, regretfully too, IMO. Don't fall into propaganda is all I can say.
What? I’m saying alcohol is arguably more destructive and harmful to society than gambling is, and the NHL has been making money off selling it at games and alcohol ads for years. So it’s hard for me to understand why we’re suddenly getting on the soap box for them taking casino money.

I don’t care about them making money off either thing tbh. I enjoy both responsibly when I feel like it. Just saying it feels hypocritical to criticize one but not the other.

EK can't start in OT. He's not good enough defensively to play if they lose the FO. His dicking around with ROR was a bigger factor in that goal than the pick cause Sid's angle was bad and he would have gotten burned anyway.

I know this. I'm agreeing. I'm saying why they push these things is for darker purposes.

I think the "Todd Rierden to Matt Canada" comparison is a great one, in that his system is so bad that it's going to be extremely difficult for anyone to produce in. But on the other side, the Penguins skill players are WILDLY more talented than the Steelers skilled players.

Kenny Pickett isn't a good enough QB to overcome Matt Canada's stupidity. Crosby, Malkin and Karlsson should absolutely be good enough to overcome Todd Rierden's stupidity. That's not a justification to keep Rierden, please fire his ass today and bring in Woodcroft, but the players need to just do what they're paid to do at some point.

That non-call in OT was funny, at least.

Turned it off after Preds went up 2-0, surprised they got a point tbh.

If you went back in time 5 years and said a team with EK65, Malkin, Sid, and Jake on it would have one of the worst power plays in the league, you'd have been laughed off the site. It's amazing.
What's crazy is that if this was Dan or Mike, they'd be fired by now.

Mike Sullivan gets every excuse in the book and he doesn't even need to come up with them himself, others do it for him.

Blaming an assistant coach for issues that predate him is some weak sauce type shit. Sure Reirden might suck but there's a lot of issues that have been issues before he got here.

With Todd there's also the fact that before he left, he had a good Rep as an assistant coach. So for him to come here and now be some sort of problem is hilarious. The amount of blame shift when it's always been Mike Sullivan is so f***ing hilarious, as the youts say...I literally can't even.

I know Geno's one-timer isn't nearly as lethal as it used to be but I can't help but wonder if there is any other team which refuses to do the obvious on the power play quite like the Pens. You don't see the Caps putting Ovi on the right side, everyone knows where Stamkos and Kucherov are going to be positioned for the Bolts, etc. In the first few games of the season EK65 and Malkin were passing around the puck like magic and shooting dangerous one-timers. The results weren't the greatest compared to the eye test but still vastly superior than the current abomination.

Did they panic after the decisive Ducks shortie? Or the other teams adjusted while Sully and Rierden (of course) did not? Do they really not see that their go to play of "stand still for an eternity, then pass the puck through the most crowded area of the ice and hope for the best" is stupidly low percentage especially when everyone knows that you will try it?

And we thought Malkin and Kessel taking too many risks in 2019 was a bad power play. It was downright marvelous compared to the current one.

We have to, not just for the 1st round pick to SJ but because the players we have. They may be old but they are still good players. Do whatever it takes starting with an entire new coaching staff and work from there. There is literally zero excuse to not make it. Team needs to always have a guy or 2 infront of the net and always looking to shoot...NO EXCUSES! unless you're that lazy and should get called out and benched. Coaching staff is literally ruining the final years of our core.
Yep. But coaching staff is staying. They haven't scored a PP goal in 3 weeks and here we are. No changes. No playoffs.

Not sure why people think the PP is suddenly going to improve with Guentzal getting pushed out in front of the net by defenders. The team is still playing like Hornqvist is screening the goalie and going 100% at rebounds. I've also noticed Karlsson falling into the stupid habit of trying to use his skate to stop bouncing pucks which could have easily been controlled by using his whole body and stick. So many of the Pens problems stem from players copying Crosby

I've never thought the Pens players on the PP in the Sid era were really good at it, even though it produced. As stated a billion times here, Gonchar made it work, and then Hornqvist and Kessel. Given the talent level, they shouldn't have the same problems for 10-15 years (zone entry, 1-and-dones in the zone, turnovers just inside the o-zone blueline, odd-man breaks against, shorthanded goals against, etc..) These are plain and simple mental errors/decision making issues. The plain and simple truth is, our stars routinely don't make the smart, safe play. Sid not as much, but he still contracts whatever brainfart disease these guys pass around to each other like the clap.
