Bones later explained that had Heiskanen not scored, the next shooter would have been Glendening. The only reason he didn't go earlier was Bones was afraid Luke would accidentally skate in on Oettinger and try to score. Laxadal was already on the bench with the clipboard preparing Glendening for the upcoming attempt in hopes of helping him correctly identify which net to actually shoot on.

I think it's time to just take the training wheels off and let Luke shoot on whichever net he wants with the understanding that his offensive skills are generally too poor to consistently score own goals.
