This young D would be rendered irrelevant with Kovalchuk playing 25 minutes a night, starting every rush and taking a point on the PP for a full 2 minutes. Kovalchuk leaving was the biggest opportunity for the entire defense...and you saw the returns immediately with Greene producing from the very point Kovalchuk occupied. Not to mention the opportunity it opened for Gelinas.

lol. Absolutely ridiculous. Look at the talent we had on d when Kovy was here. My lord you have an unrelenting hard on for him.

The PK was good because certain players just had chemistry and read off each other so well that they could apply enormous pressure and force mistakes. This season it seems some of that chemistry is gone and all the speed necessary to pull it off successfully is gone. Now they just sit around and watch the puck wiz by them. Even the stick-work isn't nearly as good as it's been in the past. They literally look like statues out there that someone occasionally nudges so they glide a bit. The only exception is Cammalleri.
