Petry needs to be healthy scratched and traded or bought out this summer, I dont care that his dad is Dan ****** Petry and played for the Tigers, get rid of that pylon immediately.

Not baiting anything. I think the team has had the same issues for a long time; Yzerman didn't do anything to fix the weaknesses at the deadline, and now they're getting exposed as PDO is equalling out a bit. I like Yzerman but he gets way too much leeway here. If this team has a significant losing record to close out the season, I'm not sure how you can say this season was much of an improvement over the last one. At some point, you've got to start holding the guy putting the team together accountable.

I'm not gonna judge this placeholder as hell team tho and act like this is the final planned product. If this team had Danielson, Kasper, Edvinsson, whoever and this was how they looked I might be a little more miffed at Yzerman.

You can absolutely blame him for free agents tho, and Edvinsson being down while we run some stank defense. Rebuilding team with no rookies is a weird look, and next season we should have 2-3 at minimum.

This was suppose to be a bubble team with a lot of unknown parts, and that's for sure what we are getting. They did better than I thought and also worse at the same time, I sure didn't expect this team to be in the mix with a top 10 goals for and a bottom 10 goals allowed.

agree with all of this. You can think that long term the rebuild is generally on course while still saying Yzerman severely screwed up this year by prioritizing shitty veteran D over growing the young guys.

Yeah...agree somewhat. But then again, I think the way Stevie planned it originlly was to go into the season with Holl, Ghost, Maatta and Edvinsson as 3-6. Then Petry surprisingly became availabe for a discount - Petry is better than Holl. And Stevie took the opportunity to make that improvment. Petry made Holl unnecessary, but the deal was already signed.

Why Edvinsson got hardly any time with the big club I don't know. Maybe they think that the personnel doesn't fit. Who do you want Edvinsson to play with? Certainly not Ghost or Petry. Ghost can't come outta the team cuz he's too valuable on the PP. Throwing Ed into the top4 with Ben is a little steep for my taste. Ideally Ed woulda been on thee 3rd pair with Maatta. But then you gotta play Ghost with Chiarot which is an even bigger disaster than Chiarot-Petry. Think Lalonde really likes having two RHD in the lineup. I don't agree with that thinking too much, but considering the personnel I can at least remotely understand the circumstances that lead to this outcome. But there is zero question that Ed has to be on the team come next season.

I'd like a partner for Ed who is not on the roster yet. Someone who can cover for Ed and allow him to roam from time to time. I don't wanna quench Ed's offensive instincts. A Dylan Demelo type player. Maurice once referred to Demelo's defensive zone play as "Hockey Porn". That's the kind of player i want Big E to rely on - don't trust Chiarot and Maatta with that.

Plus he was coming back from shoulder surgery on a 4 to 6 month recovery timeline.

The fact that Kasper didn't get a single call up this season tells me he won't be in the NHL full-time next season, and I could see Yzerman leaving Danielson in the AHL since he's waiver exempt. I wouldn't be surprised to see Edvinsson as the only promotion next year. I could still see Berggren being moved at the draft as part of a package.

Kind of sucks, because I think if Danielson was on the team and our C depth was Larkin, Compher, Copp, Veleno, Danielson, and Kasper...Danielson would be our 2c by the end of the year. And I don't think anyone can make a strong argument that Danielson > Fischer, Kasper > Perron, Edvinsson > Maatta, and Berggren > Sprong isn't true. Those four guys would bring a lot more speed, grit, scoring, and creativity to the roster.
