As I posted in another thread, the lowest point total for a playoff team under the wild card format is 87...which was also done by Minnesota. Now they are poised to do it again.

Their owner gave the gm there the green light to tear it down today according to Friedman. Not good enough...

Good that you can root for a team that you can admire. 3rd game in 4 days and could have mailed it in. As it was unlucky not to tie it.

Good

Stecher - legit top 4 the way he is playing. Maybe the most improved player on the team

Pettersson - incredible knack at creating chances. Just sees it so quick.

Roussel - compete level is excellent and he is showing more skill than expected. Was really working for chances. Provides very good example for younger players

Markstrom - played well again. Got run some and the team should have run Jones.

Levio - there were times, with a little more touch, that he should have done more but he was good on the forecheck and in creating havoc around the net.

Boeser - is carrying the puck better and making better plays. Continues to show improvement as the year goes on.

Hutton - didn't like him on the PP but everywhere else was solid. Taking players harder around his net.

Horvat - not shooting the puck as well as he was early in the year but he was important in gaining the offensive zone and taking potential scorers out around the net. With Sutter out back in more of defensive role.

Others

Pouliot - always good for a couple of gaffes but he is playing better. He is a good passer and is showing some improvement in the d-zone. Can he ever become a decent 6th defense man. Earlier would have said no way but given recent play maybe some hope.

Birga - played real well for the most part but then screwed up badly. Probably getting more minutes than he should be considering how little he has been used this season.

Gaudette - looked dangerous at times and maybe should have got more game time. Certainly has NHL speed but still needs lot of refinement.

MacEwen - might as well be back in Utica if they are going to play him so little. Did well in his fight.

Goldobin - probably did enough positive things to balance out the bad. Got to stop the slow cross ice passes that create chances against. Still not showing enough touch around the net and that is only thing that will keep him in the League.

Granlund - not bad. Foot soldiers did fairly good job in this game.

Thought the Canucks were right with the Sharks for most of it and, given the lineup, kudos to the players.

Seems fitting for such a sadsack franchise, also would seem fitting for the Canucks to finish 9th in such a weak playoff year.
