Great game so far. Matthews is such a beast, makes me sad the yotes didn't get him, but happy to see him succeed.
It is amazing that one player can potentially turn a franchise's fortunes around so dramatically.
Without a Mario (and later maybe even a Crosby), there might not be a hockey team in Pittsburgh today.
That said, VGK does not have that one great player. Ship was given that opportunity to be that superstar, but he whiffed. Having that superstar can be a mixed good fortune, however. The Edmonton McDavids have yet to prove their consistency. Sometimes having solid 2nd and 3rd liners can be more important than a superstar or three. (Think about the Pens with Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, and maybe even a Letang.)
