It's hard to remember the last time these two clubs met. On November 6 the Leafs beat VGK 4-3 in a SO.

VGK was finishing up a disastrous six game road trip. This was game 5, with only one win (against the Sens) with loses against the Isles, Rags, and Bruins. (They would finish the road trip with a loss against the Habs.)

The game summary:

Maple Leafs top Golden Knights in shootout

Most importantly, Lagace was in net. (This was his fourth straight start. Admittedly, it took some time in that game for Lagace to finally get his mojo. The Leafs jumped out to a 3-1 lead the first period.)

Key to today's game: Special teams.

During the November game, "the Golden Knights had a 5-on-3 power play for 1:12 in the second period but failed to score."

Within the first five minutes, Leafs Kadri had a PP goal. Ouch. (Fortunately, VGK Neal quickly tied the game up.)

So far this year:

Leafs are 5th in PP%: 22.7%; VGK 19th, 18.7%.

Leafs are 11th in PK%: 82.3%; VGK 22nd, 79.5%
