As far as Suter/Dumba:
Suter I give the benefit of the doubt. He’s one of the best defenseman in the game over his career. Everything is still there and he’s not slowing by any noticeable amount. Strange year with minimal time to prepare, he’ll get to where he needs to be so not at all concerned. Outside of his misplay is transition, all other flubs can be contributed to the poor ice and the puck not laying well for his to do the thing that makes him most valuable; move the puck in transition.
Dumba looked good to my eyes in the first game. He’s never going to be flawless in his own end but anyone who wants to complain about his defensive game much not watch many other NHL games. He’s a significantly better defender than a lot of players in this league. On offense, I expect him to approach levels we seen in the past. Mostly because of the developing fire power up front teams are not going to be able to account for him as much as they have in the past.
Long story short, Suter I am not at all concerned about and Dumba is a much better overall player than most on this board thinks he is.
