I agree in general, but it would be a big ask for a kid who grew up in Ontario and has only played in NY to suddenly uproot and head out to Edmonton for three years.

It might be for a specific place like Edm but often in pro sports if a player is told they will not play then the player asks for a trade themselves. These guys have egos. They want to compete usually.

Absolutely nothing. RNH is a better option than Duchene, but both are worse than Stepan at a similar price tag. Makes no sense.

Dude Duchene is a way better option. Duchene has put up near point per game numbers in past seasons meanwhile Nugent-Hopkins hasn't done ****. Yes Duchene had a very bad season this year but he was on a historically bad team.

Whether or not you take that as an excuse is one thing but Nugent-Hopkins had a season just as bad as Duchene and was on one of the better teams in the league.

Duchene has way better past numbers and can attribute a bad season to something while RNH is looking like more of a bust. Duchene can also ****ing fly and would be a great fit on this team. And a great example of a talented player who benefitted from a change of scenery like Duchene would here is Brass when he came here from CBJ, so these cases do exist.

Conspiracy theory time: Sakic is driving up the price so much on Duchene because he's waiting for Gorton to add a sweetener on a MacKinnon trade that's in the works.
