And as much as I love Hank, that contract hampered us for a long time.

This is wrong though, the only season it's hampered us is 16/17, that's the only season he wasn't worth his cap hit %

Edit: And even then it was very far from the biggest cap issue too, obviously.

What about hayes to VGK for Theodore and a 2nd (or higher? who knows). Hayes would fit right in with Vegas due to age, and he'd be the best center on their team.

Theodore, 2018 1st (this would suck :/), and Graves/Gropp whichever they prefer for Duchene? Would Sakic even take that?.. he wanted young D, D prospect and high pick right?

I'd rather hang onto Hayes and hope that he puts it together in year 4 ala Blake Wheeler.

He has the skills to do it.

He looked great at times last season, bad at times as well... I mean he's still young so we'll see.. He did have 50 points as the 3rd line center, who knows.

Vegas has already come out and said they aren't trading Theodore

2018 1st should be off limits right now. Period.

Trading away Hayes in a madcap scheme to get Duchene kind of renders the move pointless, as the Rangers would still be 1 to 2 centers short, depending where you want to slot Miller. The only way a trade for Duchene makes sense is if the Rangers keep Hayes and Miller. That makes them a very dangerous team.

Can't we go for Landeskog instead of Duchene? Having watched him play alot on the national team, I consider him a very skilled player who plays with alot of grit, and the asking price would probably be considerably cheaper than Duchene.

Bozak would be an ok stop gap. He's pretty terrible defensively, though, and I would definitely be looking to add some defensive ability at center considering that Zibanejad/Hayes are certainly nowhere near Selke caliber forwards.
