And this is one of the huge losses we got for signing absolutely awful contracts in Loui Beagle Ferland and And rooster.

Not to mention myers.

This is a huge blow, the mistakes really screwed us with this deal

I hope a Tanev deal gets done and it keeps Benning from 3/4way bidding for Barrie.
I have zero interest in bringing back tanev.
The team is going to basically be the same except with a worse goalie.

Re-visiting my predictions...

- Ekman-Larsson ends up staying put in Arizona. CHECK

- Tanev signs with Pittsburgh. My guess is 3 years at $4.2m per year.

- Markstrom signs with one of Calgary or Edmonton to a 6x6 deal. I’m leaning Edmonton. CHECK

- Toffoli re-ups with Vancouver. I’m thinking $4.75m for 4 years.

- Pietrangelo to NYR is my guess. Also guessing $8ish million for 7 years.

- Canucks will pursue one of the RD available - I think Barrie would top their list, I can see Hamonic being another option - Justin Schultz might be another one they take a look at if they are wanting to bargain shop. CHECK...? I kinda of hope not?

- Also on D - if the Canucks don’t circle back to Stecher, I would not be shocked to see them look at Matt Benning. STRIKE - Benning signs in Nashville for $1m per for 2 years.

Give me

Barrie to Calgary

Hamonic to Vancouver

Pietrangelo to Vegas

There is a massive danger in giving a goaltender a long-term deal. Giving a 30+ year old goalie a long-term deal is a non-starter.

I mean not really tho, this team was never signing Marky to 6x6 with a NMC with Demko there regardless of cap space

Great job by Benning from walking away.

Cap issues or not, we cant be giving Marky what he got in CGY

Good luck to Marky (except when he plays us)

There was obviously not going to be any hometown discount..although if he had peaked earlier in his career,he possibly may have...

I have no doubt in my mind they would do it if we had an extra 10 million in cap.

At least a 6x5

I think there are definitely scenarios where they would choose Markstrom over Demko.

Those other deals forced the decision.
