yeah i guess it depends on retention, but really i’m talking about the return. i don’t think it will be ahl fodder or future considerations going back the other way.

we’re in a very good position- we won’t need them to retain and we have somewhat valuable pieces we can send back without crippling the structural integrity of our team.
Unless I'm missing your point, I don't think you get the fact that they seem to be PAYING to get rid of him.

Fleury has been one of those guys that have struggled at times whether it was horrible playoff performances or the stuff with Murray replacing him and expansion talk, I've felt nothing but huge sympathy and respect for the guy all my time I've been watching NHL. Would love to see him rock the Devils jersey and gain a pick or two at the same time.

New Jersey(No Fanz!)
I mean... It's not the superstar 1D we were all hoping for, but it would give use 3 lines of defense we could count on next year.. If we do this, I hope we offload Butcher, let Smith sink/swim and sign another "steady" D man.

Edit: I should have read what team the reunion was with......

Well that aside...

My prediction on Ty is not only will he swim, he'll be doing the backstroke.

My wishlist:

- Acquire Fleury (full salary) + Hague + our 2nd round pick for AHL fodder

- Sign Dadonov

- Sign Fast

I suppose you could also sign a guy like Koekkoek and run Murray/Butcher/Koekkoek down the left side, but in a perfect world I'd trade for someone better. And Killorn.
If we got Hague, between him, Mukhamadullin and Bahl, our Left D situation would look more like an NFL offensive line.

Talbot or Greiss as a backup mentor .....than let other teams come to them for help with cap and acquire prospects or picks leave guys like Dadanov and Hoffman to other teams they simply don't fit in the long term with devils.....keep the youth movement going......

i understand that they’re going to add a sweetener- what i’m saying is i think they’re going to get something valuable back. we are one of very few teams that can afford to send something decent back while paying his full cap hit.

teams are naturally going to lowball and try to wait vegas out to force their hand

The idea is we wouldn't be sending anything back unless MAF is just a piece Fitz uses to lower the price on something else they have we want. If it's just to take MAF, they are straight paying. No assets needed from us. That's how it seems to be reported anyways.

I somewhat agree, but if you sign guys like Hofmann/Dadonov on 2-3 year deals and add another capable defenseman and goalie, we could push for a playoff spot in what’s going to probably be a shortened season where anyone could get hot a win. In 2-3 years these guys can be replaced by our top-3 farm system and not miss a beat. Holtz, Foote and Mercer will replace any top-6 wing talent that we lose in the next few years.

that could be right (and i hope it is) but i’m predicting otherwise. we’ll see

I would do future considerations (i.e. nothing) for Fleury 50% retained. Maybe a guy like McLeod or Seney if they want an ELC space filler to fill out their bottom lines.

Fleury was one of the bottom five goalies in the league last year. I wouldn’t take him without sweeteners.

I watched Forbort play with Calgary . There is a reason why calgary walked away.
Duclair same thing.
Galchenyuk is someone that interests me. Same as Granlund, Craig Smith . All have talent and are determined to show that they still have a lot to give at the NHL level.
Galchenyuk is my least favorite out of all of those, as two teams found out last season he needs to play offense only center and he’s is a defensive toxic dump. His declining offense isn’t worth his many flaws and negatives. He’s not in the same conversation with Granlund or Smith and soon he won’t be in the same league. (I also just don’t like him.) Smith would be pretty sweet but anything longer than a two year deal is weird for us considering his age.

I’m not enthusiastic about Duclair, we really aren’t good enough at defense to cover for him and he’s probably not the bargain people think he is. He’s a winger though so he’s easier to fit onto this team.

A lot depends on opportunity here because it doesn’t really make sense to go big game hunting when shorter deals are possible, plus we don’t know what the market is or how will become available. I’ll be pretty impressed if people guess our moves. I got nothing other than if we want Talbot just offer him something, goalies may be nervous.
