It's possible that San Jose would take Marleau back. It's possible that Marleau would go back. Why would they pay a decent pick when they know we want to dump him?

Leafs: Brendan Lemieux
Rangers: Nick Petan, Justin Holl, 4th

Why does New York want a couple of AHLers and a middle pick in exchange for a useful player?

Leafs: Adam Larsson, Zack Kassian
Oilers: Nikita Zaitsev, Kasperi Kapanen, Connor Brown, 2nd 2020

Edmonton can't add that much salary. Take Zaitsev out, and it probably makes sense.

What are the chances the Ducks would move Manson? He would be the absolute perfect fit. Wonder what the price would be though...I wouldnt pay AJ+Kap because of his contract and age.

this is quite dramatic. Every player has a salary limit that makes sense, if he asks for an unreasonable amount he ain't winning any cups here
Ok

And we won't with Willy leading the way lol
Mathews showing up when he is in the mood.

Using Marner to entice Taveras to sign with us the not signing him.

Suddenly Willy has to lead the way, despite currently being our 3rd highest paid forward?

Despite Matthews "showing up when he is in the mood", he scored 5 goals in 6 games against Boston, and has scored at a 52 goal pace in his 3 years in the league. Stop it, you're embarrassing yourself.

Marner is essential to this team, but if he prices himself out of town, you can't just give him a blank cheque because he "enticed Tavares to sign with us", which alone is even debatable unless you can read JT's mind

There's no way Simmonds signs for 2.75. He likely gets 4M + with more term

1. Edmonton doesn't have the cap room to do that.
2, Simmonds will sign for more than that.
3. I doubt that Rangers do that trade.

I think Simmonds stock may have fallen more than some think. Awful playoffs and season. Can see him getting anywhere in that 2-3 mil range.

Dont think hed be a fit on the Leafs thpugh

Couple of different proposals that have been discussed here before:
1.
Arizona
Crouse
Richardson
Hjalmarsson

Toronto
Johnsson
Brown
Marleau
2nd round pick

2.
Anaheim
Manson
Ritchie

Toronto
Nylander

3.
Winnipeg
Lowry
2nd round pick

Toronto
Kadri

It’s never going to happen but if you could do all three you have a lineup of:

Hyman Tavares Marner
Ritchie Matthews Bracco
Crouse Lowry Kapanen (shutdown)
Moore Richardson mikheyev
Gauthier

Rielly Manson
Muzzin Hjalmarsson
Rosen Dermott

Lineup has a bit of everything, size, skill, speed

Just today. Bob McKenzie. O’Neil and McLennan. All said that marleau May be traded.

The overdrive they actually voted that he will not be back.

But acting a. Fulemin does not think it is likely. So I guess they are wrong.

As much as I like this, there is no way any of those trades get done.

They are all too heavily lop-sided in Toronto's favour.

Please keep this here, and not on the main boards. It wouldn't be well-received.......

Cheers,

They wouldn't do that.

I dunno. NY likes making a big splash and landing a Big fish and all I'm asking is 1 elite prospect and 2 mid tier prospects an also part of the value for NY is the contracts we would have to take on from them, I dont know their cap situation enough to name names but I'm sure they have some contracts they would like moved also the question asked from the thread that is no more was what would it take to trade Marner from our POV if we cant sign him my answer 3 good prospect and a couple bad contacts.

Personally I wouldn't like to trade Marner at all. I would rather move other pieces to fit Marner.

Its interesting how many media types are suggesting it's a real possibility. A few weeks ago id say theres no chance but now I'm wondering if theres fire with this smoke

Jamie McClellan said marleau is gone. And Hayes said ... oh yeah with the NMC? He gave the old head nod and wink and said

“There’s flexibility there”. Bob McKenzie again said marleau as the first option.

We will. See

IM not sure they can. But when McKenzie and insiders are suggesting it. I mean there is a chance.

It would make sense if the 3 year deal was rejected. That would mean our big cap crunch isn’t this year. But 3 years
From now.

If marleau leaves you could sign kappy. AJ.
And Marner for a combined 15 million. And then have 4.5-5 to spend on a D

Edit. I forgot the keonhorton guy won’t let us discuss possibilities that tsn insiders are suggesting

I see you've mapped out their game plan. Hopefully we get something back for Marleau.
