Well, yeah, see, I already did that. That’s why I wasn’t bothered much by the other losses in a row. I didn’t expect them to have a 140 season. I did expect them to beat the Flyers at home.

Every loss isn’t a problem. This one was to me.
I mean, what do you do? They played great. Hart just wasn't going to let them score and Severson had an egregious gaffe. There wasn't really anything structurally wrong or creeping bad habits with their game (other than not taking so many penalties).

i can second that. i was already concerned he plays the trombone in the rangers brass band.
What?! I despise the Rangers and everything that organization stands for. Just because some of us were still skeptical of this team before they proved they could win games does NOT mean we were fairweather fans ready to jump on the friggin Rangers bandwagon. That’s disgusting.

Posters like that DevilsDoggo character and the folks who still currently latch onto every negative outcome as some kind of proof that a team in first place actually sucks…they’re a totally different breed. I have no idea what their deal is.

This is a perfect example of how all negativity gets conflated and some of you assume everyone who’s negative is automatically a baby, troll or turncoat (which is a big reason these discussions get personal and turn ugly in minutes), as if there was absolutely no reason at all to be negative the last decade

Granted some of the negativity ‘now’ is probably over the top but this year is a different context

Some folks just struggle with self expression and attach too much weight to the outcome of a game they have no influence on. You should create a safe space for them to cut loose and accuse each other of whatever crimes against humanity are committed by being a secret Rangers fan.

Btw, the ice really seemed to be a mess last night with bouncing pucks and also pucks sticking in the slush. Was there any reason for that? On Saturday they are doing a late change over after a basketball game so we can expect problems again.

This doesn’t benefit a high skill, fast paced game. Bad ice means simplify.

holtz can't process the game fast enough. low hockey iq.

i hope our players aren't mentally as weak as large parts of our fan base. else it is really doom and gloom.
I mean the fan base has seen multiple season meltdown with long losing streams the past decade and even they one year they were good featured them playing last place hockey over the second half to nearly blow it. I understand why fans can be a bit paranoid.

Very disappointed. I guess they played over their heads. We’re not a well constructed team. Our best forwards are average or undersized. Our defense doesn’t score enough except for Hamilton. I’d said it before and got blasted probably by young fans who only see what they want. I’ll say it again, we have no depth, especially at forward. Not a big fan of the coach going back to when he was hired. We need a trade, I’m good with shipping Holtz and Severson out. Hate to give up a first, but for the right player (Not a rental), I’m good with moving it.

holtz def needs to work on his positioning. during the long PP, jack pointed w his stick to where holtz needed to move (lower in the circle). dude was kinda stationary for a while on that play

They are still a work in progress. If they had one more bona fide top six wing who could score like Bratt/Hughes/Hischier I think they'd be a little less prone to offensive stagnation from game to game. I think a number of folks see a similar issue and that's why the Meier discussion kept popping up. He'd help in that role. You could swap him and Bratt around as needed with Hischier and Hughes. A guy like him in the lineup and they probably score an extra goal in a few of the recent games and are still pacing with Boston at that point. It's too early to get too high or too low for me.

Exactly. Does anyone seriously believe the Devils are the second-best team in the league?

At one point they had "swept" Canada. Conveniently without playing the best team in Canada.

So you only except charts that are “facts” but the standings are not factual enough for you.

Seems like a difficult position to have a meaningful conversation from.

So you're saying we're doomed, is that it? :eek3:

I believe that was one of the charges at Nuremberg, no? :sarcasm:

Very well said my friend. Glad to see more of you getting on board after our smoke and mirrors fluke start. FLA up next against the ice cold NJD. Terrifying.

Here are some facts

goals scored per game- 6th in the league
goals allowed per game- 3rd fewest in the league

This "I always knew they weren't any good!" stuff is pure nonsense.

As much as it’s a mockery, this place is really filling up with DD’s and RD’s the last week. It’s getting to be filled over capacity with this stretch.

Unless you really think the Jets are the best team in Canada…..

Feel indifferent on that Severson benching which seems like it's happening, there's plenty of blame to go on this L4 especially some of the defensemen who've been solid turning into brain dead players like Siegs/Hamliton. But eventually Severson has to learn how to play a safe game on the circumstances, he's too full throttle at all times.

Didn’t Lindy also bench Siegs at the end of one of the Ranger games too? Funny how people somehow think accountability is a bad thing when the team is actually relevant again.

I think Siegs was reportedly hurt but didn't miss games but I'm not entirely sure either. I think it's good as well but I think it's a scapegoat of sorts. Vanecek could've made the save on that Konency shot, why were Hamliton/Sevo both out there in a tied game (that falls on the coaches), etc. I'm also not a fan of a Smith-Bahl pair so there's that too. It's more like a meh thing to me tbh especially with Severson's days numbered in NJ.
