If the kids dominate the AHL, they’ll get called up. Stewart will be scratched or waived in a second.Plenty of prospects get into the NHL in the bottom six, so that doesn't make any sense; guys who you expect to start in the top 6 do not have to always and forever be in the top 6 from day 1. They can very easily shuffle the roster around to get him 3rd line minutes. There is no need for Stewart. That these kind of mental contortions are required, that it is necessary to pretend that lineups aren't easily fluid, is bizarre. And it's something that you and DH have only recently latched on to. Specifically to pretend that there's some role here that has to exist. It does not.
Nobody besides maybe CDP is making a big deal out of Bunny sitting. Most people agree he hasn't fit in. The issue is that they are preferring Stewart to any number of superior players
That is, and always has been, the problem with their idiotic attachment to a bad player for no good reason at all.
It is costing them cap space (which we aren't swimming in) and it means we only have 3 contract slots to play around with. Locker room presence is overrated, we have tons of leadership and veterans. He doesn't do anything on the ice. We have numerous players who can step in for injured players. His cap hit and contract are limiting; if he ever touches the ice, he becomes directly damaging to the roster. That is hamstringing the team.
No, because he kept losing board battles and foot races to AHLers. Because he tried throwing several hits on AHL players and they shrugged him off.
You must have watched the wrong player, because your description of his performance is pure fantasy. Since you've stated that you believe plurality of opinion is important, I must point out to you that damned near everyone disagrees with your assessment.

Apparently we can't have an in-between of the Homer/Hextall extremes.
I mean, by application I mean: Turn up in a field next to a hill drunk on 12% cider.

Unfortunately, the kids didn’t blow the doors down in preseason & management wanted them to get their feet wet against older stronger professionals in the AHL. Farabee had the effort, but was trying to do too much; he was close, but needs a bit more seasoning/adjustment to the speed & strength of the NHL.
It ramps up another level in the regular season when games matter & teams ice their A rosters. Look at what happened to Vorobyev. Better to let Farabee get confidence in the AHL first than lose confidence & press right away. This wasn’t a case like Konecny 4 years ago, who flat out dominated in preseason (& even he struggled a lot when the games got real).
These guys are their future. It’s not smart to rush them even if they have more natural talent. See: the trainwreck that the Edmonton Oilers were for years despite having young talent. You’re basically getting up in arms because they didn’t follow the Oilers’ development philosophy right out of camp.
And stop forcing this “you said you believe in plurality of opinion” bull****. You’re an inveterate
misrepresenter.
As long as Stewart says it’s a worthy hill to roll down on, Chuck will be there.
This was the perfect opportunity to keep rotating kids in and out of the lineup as a "reward" for good play. Should have kept things the same until after the road trip. Then "reward" Rubstov with a few games giving him that taste. Or reward anyone else who has earned it as they see fit.
Raffl Laughton Pitlick was going to be our 4th line most thought. Now we have Twar, Bunny and Stewy in the mix. That's 6 guys now.
Can't wait for 3 weeks from now when it's Gabriel or Andreoff who gets recalled.
Twar goes down, bunny goes down, Stewy gets 3rd line minutes. Voila!
Hot take.
If they felt so strongly about this kind of player.
Why not find a way to re-sign Simmonds on what obviously would be a discount for a year.
Holmgren saw Chuck build a consistently mediocre team in Minnesota and thought "now that's what the Flyers are all about."
Hot take.

Stewie at 750 >>> Simmer at 2 mill
Simmonds is DONE
I dont disagree, but if Simmer is done, what the actual **** is Stewart?

It's quite clear that Farabee and Frost are good enough to play in the NHL right now. The idea that you need some sort of special grindy quality to play on the 4th line or that it's not good for their development is nonsense.
Tampa Bay cranks out new guys constantly who can put the puck in the net and slaps them in the lineup after 50-120 AHL games.Guys who are 3rd/4th rounders, i.e., no special talents. Montreal is playing Suzuki on the 4th line right now. Tyler Seguin played 10 mins a night on the 4th line for a Cup winning team.
The Flyers have won two games with very little in the way of contributions from their bottom two lines. If you want a grinder/energy guy, NAK is a perfect fit. He's nothing special but at worst he's a fungible guy with skill. Rubtsov and Vorobyev are equal or better than Raffl. Put them in the lineup, give them a chance. Stop wasting time with no upside/no-future types like Stewart.
