MTL fans actually liked Weise here. But yeah, we also realise he more or less took your money and sat on it. Let's see if he gets motivated being back in town.

Froese is a very honest AHL-er. Schlemko got hurt like 5 times and never got going.

It's really a nothing trade in the big picture. Teams got rid of players they didn't want and maybe Froese gets a better chance to play in Philly.

Folin is just a real quiet keep-it-simple dman. Wont notice him most nights. Has some trouble defending the rush but otherwise hes solid.

Folin's skating is not a plus, but he's not inept either. Struggles in the areas you would expect for that archetype -- speed on the rush, etc.

A complete zero in controlled entries/exits. Not bad at denying entries relative to talent/role.

Fletcher is getting a lot of praise for moving out players who aren't currently being a problem, meanwhile not removing the ones who actively are, so nothing is actually being accomplished.

Id rather have Lehtera, Weal, Weise, or Folin on the bench than Hagg or Mac in the lineup and actively blocking a guy like Morin or Myers. Those are the two names who have to be moved to actually improve the on-ice team.

And he'll be easier to move with one year left than Weise (D-men are harder to find than bottom six forwards).

So basically we traded a cheap 7th defenseman and an overpaid forward we had no use with another year left on his deal for a cheap forward we have no use for and an overpaid 7th defenseman with another year left on his deal.

OK....at least it opens up a spot for Myers as Schlemko will be AHL bound

Haag I agree, but sadly a lot of teams still love these guys. Heck in Wpg Maurice won’t play Niku while guys like Joe Morrow are regulars

How does it open a spot for Myers?

They didnt trade a top 6 D. They traded a 7D for another 7D.

This changes nothing for Myers unless they have the balls to call him up and use Hagg or MacDonald as the 7D..
or there is an injury.
