It's not?

Mangiapane has the shot of a 35 goal scorer. And he'll probably hit that mark someday.

Gaudreau doesn't have that shot...
and has still had a 36 goal season and a 30 goal season.
Gaudreau's terrible shot is a strong part of why the Gaudreau-Monahan pairing is so one-dimensional. There's really no excuse for him not to develop a better one especially when guys around his size have good technique

Mony's awful skating is why that line is one-dimensional... he never carries the puck ffs. Our entire transition runs through Gaudreau and we have absolutely no other options.

Even Tavares can do it, and the guy has lead boots lol.

Really? It's night and day from the Preds game.
I think largely it's optics due to us being ahead vs. needing a goal. Nashville shelled hard during start of the third and smothered us for about 10 minutes, but during that time we weren't really giving up chances either; we just couldn't enter their zone. Before and after that period of time, we were generating Grade A chances fairly consistently and wasting them just as consistently. The big difference this game is we got some bounces to get a lead instead of needing bounces to come back.

Great montage on Pettersson's back...clearly it is f***ed up. Damn. Also, good comments by the team. Backlund's slew-foot definitely should have been a penalty. I don't like to see stars get injured, though I guess we do have to target him. What a tough game.

Monahan shoulders more of the blame for that pairing's failures by virtue of being a center that is uncomfortable with the puck but the opposition never has to respect Gaudreau's shot. So he button hooks and we end up losing the puck seconds later

What?

Other than his unlucky streak lately Gaudreau finishes any setups his linemates make for him.

Are you seriously blaming Gaudreau for the fact that Monahan never sets Gaudreau up??

Monahan is a one dimensional player. Gaudreau is not. If Johnny played with a real center he'd be dynamic AF without changing a thing about his shooting.

Top line has done nothing tonight... like the play literally heads south the second they get on the ice.
