What would Calgary give Montreal to take Frolik and Stone?

We could give Peca (cheap contract) + AHL player like Sklenička or Verbeek for # contract reason.

Nothing.
We will give no one sweeteners to take on actual NHLers with single years left on their deals. It doesn't make sense to do it. If we need to, we can buy out Stone and not use assets.

Cost for Frolik is likely a 2nd or 3rd.
Cost for Stone is likely a 4th or 5th.

We can also top up on Frolik to make a Zucker type trade.

Any trade of our d-men most likely comes down to Kylington, Brodie, Hamonic, or Stone. I'd rather hold onto the cheap assets of Kylington and Valimaki as opposed to throwing them away while they're cheap and not as valuable as they can be. Especially with the ceiling Valimaki has. I'd rather look to trade another d-man, work with how cheap the two rookies will be, and then take stock of the situation at the expansion draft.
So you protect, giordano, hanifin and valimaki?

They should be fine. It’s no secret they have too many Dmen.

If they had to, they could waive Brodie which would solve their issues instantly. But it wouldn’t be a very good return on what’s a pretty solid player and contract for the coming year.

Gio at 38 with one year left on his contract might even be exposed in order to protect Hanifin/Valimaki/Andersson

Calgary was going to have to bribe Seattle irregardless of any the Lucic acquisition. Too many good young D.

Yeah I mean realistically it’s too far away to tell for sure. Maybe we’ll have added depth so losing a D won’t matter. Maybe there’ll be some studs in the system that make it easier

Maybe we’ll be worse and they’ll opt for a forward. In theory I’m on board to bribe them. However in hindsight the teams that did the bribing faired exceptionally worse in the Vegas expansion draft than the teams that didn’t.

It’ll be interesting to follow for sure

12M - ~8M (Matthew Tkachuk) - 2M (Rittich) - 3M (Bennett) = -1M

That doesn't include the other signings. I think that are reasonable guess for contracts.

They need to dump salary still.
Buyout the last year of Stones $3.5M contract thus saving $2.333M in cap space.
-1M + $2.333M = +$1.333M of cap space

Problem easily solved.
