Wondering if one of calls made for Barrie with the Leafs has to do with this. Don't think we are quite happy with our offensive production as of late and the Leafs are not very happy with their defense.

Already mentioned in a couple of other threads, (apologies in advance for repetition), but Barrie and Hamonic makes a lot of sense. Most will say that Barrie > Hamonic because of points but they are both completely different defenseman. The Flames have other defenseman more than capable of stopping the puck, we need a offensively-minded d-man like Barrie who could play on the top pairing with Giordano or on the second pairing with Hanifin.

The Leafs are looking for someone that can help out Andersen. Hamonic can do that. He doesn't appear to want to extend with the Flames so these are two players that most likely will not re-sign with either team.

Could see it, need some help in the bottom 6, and could use a top 6C.

Flames fans have always been going on about how bad he is though. Don't try and fool us lol

Well if they're planning on building last year and being contenders, they better be.

It's pretty clear the team overachieved last year, the top guys aren't THAT good that you can expect them to carry the load and produce like the B's or Oilers top guys for example, and the depth isn't as good as they maybe thought.

The good news is it shouldn't take anything major, i think one top 6 winger (like a Niederreiter type trade) could energize the group. Bad news is it still doesn't give them the type of center they need.

Reality is, Monahan-Backlund isn't going to win you a cup so it doesn't matter what they do really i guess. The ROR trade was the type of gift the Flames really need.

I would def do Barrie/Hamonic.

Both players would fit the other team much better

Faulk is an offense oriented defenseman who is struggling in St. Louis. He might thrive in a different system.

The best thing for this team is to sell off assets that are not in the long term plans and go for a retool. If this team stays the course, than it is just spinning it wheels. It is not the end of the world and it would be very smart to retool.

Dougie Hamilton would look nice for Flames.

That trade worked out well for both teams. The things that really skunk the Flames were the highest pick in franchise history busting and the Hamonic trade, we should have not traded for Hamonic and the rebuild should have continued.

They should inquire about Barrie.

The Flames don't need a one dimensional defencemen that cannot play defense, we already a few of those. I think Sakic took the Leafs to the wood shack on this trade.

The Flames a very good top center.

I think Monahan, Bennett, Janko, Brodie and Hammer are all available, for Monahan to go a play making center needs to come back, the rest can go in just minor hockey trades
