Pretty sure Hickey didn't play either - had my eyes open for him as he's looked really good throughout camp. Would have noticed him playing in the 4on4, 3on3's etc.

Smith looked waaaay better today than on Monday, goal and assist - bulldozed his way thru traffic in the corners and skated better on the rush.

From what I've heard, Arnold and Klimchuk had great chemistry! That's good to hear, it means Arnold doesn't rely on Johnny G. Just imagine our future lineup with the chemistry that has already been displayed, primarily with our C's and LW's:

Gaudreau - Bennett - RW
Baertschi - Monahan - RW (Colborne)?
Klimchuk - Arnold - RW
Wolf - C - RW

I know there is Poirier and Smith that could slot as RW's, but I honestly don't know where I'd slot Smith and Poirier. To me, I don't think we have a 1st line RWer yet.

There is also Backlund, so we can always put him as the 3rd C and move Arnold down as the 4th line C. Out of curiosity, has Arnold or Knight played RW before? I think Arnold hasn't, but Knight has... Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Backlund can also play RW.

Really need to keep Knight at center, he's the best faceoff guy in the org. I think Arnold does ok with skilled guys because he can skate fairly well and keep up - really don't see him anything other than 4th line / PK specialist (in NHL). Guys like JH and Klimchuk are going to do even better with more skilled centers like Backlund, Bennett and Monahan.

Klimchuk, Smith and Gaudreau had an a amazing game. Bennett didn't have as good a game as last time but still worked hard and created opportunities for himself and others around him.

Oh and Kanzig had a terrible game. Johnny Hockey hit him and he almost fell down. I thought he looked very weak and his skating is terrible. He also cheap shotted Agostino. Behind Doug Carr the worst player today.

Heard a very different opinion from someone else who was there and he didn't seem bad at all from the part of the scrimmage that I saw. :help:

I thought Kanzig played decent in the scrimmages. Last year he was consistently getting burnt wide, this year he's gained half a step and using his stick better to disrupt rushes.

Just wait, Jankowski will be the best faceoff guy in the organization

Nice to see Klimchuk start getting more attention here. I think he is probably the best prospect on the Flames that barely gets talked about (hmm.. I mean, he isn't the best prospect, just the best of the bunch that never gets much mention).

I think Klimchuk will get lots of rave reviews this year and people will start penciling him into the top 6. Put him on any line, and he is the type of player that 'completes' it. Guy does everything at a high-level. I expect him to be playing either with McDavid (as he has in the past) or with Bennett in the WJCs.

I thought Kanzig did well. Guys like him will have a bit tougher of a time showcasing themselves at a prospect camp when the order from management is to 'take it easy' with regards to physicality. That is definitely one of his strengths out there. Still thought he did fairly well and is noticeably more mobile (though he was a very nice surprise last year as well).

Dunno whether you're being sarcastic, but IIRC faceoffs are really one of the strongest parts of Janko's game, NCAA doesn't keep stats for them I don't think but I think someone on the outside calculated him at like 57 percent for this year which is pretty elite.

Could just be jumbling together unrelated pieces of information though (read: full of ****)

I think that someone may have been AF. There are a few things that AF doesn't joke about. One is Jankowski. Another other is Baertschi. The third is airplanes, funnily enough.

Glad someone else at least can corroborate that something to that effect had been said. It's pretty promising that his faceoffs are great since that's not really augmented in one way or another by an offensive or defensive system, not to mention that the centres who are best at faceoffs also seem to have the highest hockey IQ.

Monahan was one of the best at faceoffs in his draft year too, right? Between him, Janko, Knight and Arnold we could be winning quite a few in a few years, even if only a few of those guys make the NHL.

I am being 100% serious. Those faceoff numbers that were posted were from me, but I did not have to compile them as Providence has them on their website.

Janko finished at 53.8% on the year after a late season slump, but one has to consider that this was his first year playing centre at a competitive level. I see him being near 60% when he graduates.

MB is Megabyte, the villain from ReBoot.

EDIT: On a side note, I think ReBoot avatars would also be a great theme for the rebuild. Maybe next season?

I wish this was the case haha we would never lose.

I think porier has first line potential for sure. He's fast and skilled and gritty. When he plays with skilled players he's way better too. He was kind of on his own in Gatineau last year and all the opposition keyd in on him. Smith I'm sure could play top 9 if he pans out. I don't think RW is as weak as you think. Don't get me wrong though it's the flames weakest position
