But seriously.

Tyler Myers is an embarrassment to hockey. We should be doing everything we can to trade him the millisecond his bonus is paid.

Myers for Gudbranson, straight up.

Who says no?

:sarcasm:

Some team out there will overvalue Myers. Shouldn't be too hard to trade him.

Myers did his best to salvage the Flames season.....he was so bad in this game, it was comical. At times, it looked like he couldn't even stand up out there.

You can only pray that his career in Vancouver has only eight more games to run. Fans should be in open revolt if they can't find a way to jettison the last year of that contract.

Actually the Canucks blueline showed all its warts tonight. They're basically surviving with an AHL defense. Really lucky to even get the game into OT.

canucks sat back in the third. flames pressed and got a break. a ref mistake, but they earned it. an old story

as for ot, no criticism of joshua or pdg but tochett learned you can't put bang bang guys out in ot because storming the net by brute force is not a viable ot strategy. you are going to get chances as good as that in ot, but the key is to get them with a good chance to either recover possession or play man to man if you do not score. there is a better than even chance you lose possession trying to hammer it right throught the goalie and now you are out of position and consequently have a high chance of a 2 on 1 even if you are good skaters.

and tochett is going to ruin brisebois' momentum playing him with myers. brisebois is not the quickest decision maker and putting him into chaos giraffe land just accentuates that negative.

Game reminiscent of October

Boeser Brisebois Myers were brutal
Time to activate Hirose and sit one of Brisebois-Myers.

Actually you have to feel a little sorry for Brisebois......a career minor leaguer trying to prove he belongs in Vancouver. But tethered to Myers, it was a nightmarish night. He doesn't deserve it.

Apparently his bonus is in September

Wonder if they would have to trade Myers earlier just so they have the flexibility come July 1

Myers + $5MM cash around the draft?

Is there a rule the bonus can’t be paid earlier?

I think he's referring to a Dreger quote where Dreger said that the Canucks normally pay their bonuses later than the other teams for some reason. I'm not an expert on this, but I don't see why they wouldn't be able to pay it at any time after July 1st.

His agent probably set it up that way to make him harder to trade.

Call on Pettersson stank but on the play Calgary likely deserved the win. Maybe someone can get me up to speed why we let Toffoli walk away for nothing. Canucks looked a lot like the team of late last season when Demko was stealing games

Good

Kuzmenko - at first looked like a mostly just like a player who could complete plays around the net - now becoming that plus a excellent play maker. Have felt he was a good bit less than Kaprizov but now not so sure about that. Terrific in this game.

Hughes - best player on the ice - per usual. Skating is amazing. However, wish they wouldn't play him so much.

Garland - stirred the pot all game and not only created offense but made significant last ditch defensive plays. Too many fans under rate this player. Always given lesser centers to play with and expected to carry bottom lines. Garland >>>>>Boeser

Demko - main reason team got a point (maybe we should criticize him for that ???).

Miller - lots of bull work. Needs better wingers. Di Guiseppe is good as checker and retrieving the puck but Miller could do with some real threats on his wings

Burroughs - another solid effort. Doesn't have the scoring potential of someone like Bear but he is better overall player at the moment. Get him signed.

Not Good

Myers - fighting it in this one. Making bad decisions and ending up beating the puck to death and not taking out his man. Sometimes (or maybe you should say often) he needs to forget about looking down to the puck and instead take out his man.

Brisebois - His bad decisions coupled with Myers erratic play was a big problem in this game. Spirited effort but had trouble with Calgary size.

Boeser - this game was about quick transition and had the puck moving back a forth quickly. In such games, it becomes readily apparent Boeser just isn't in the play. When he does get the puck he tries to slow it down to his level . He's trying but simply does not have the wheels. And that's the saddest part of the problem. The Boeser situation is every bit as troubling as the OEL situation moving ahead.

Others

Studnicka - even though he didn't play much, he was effective when he was out covering for line mates. Thought it was the best game I've seen him play. Showed some good speed, hounded the puck and moved it well when he had the chance. Plays like this and he might be helpful on a bottom line.

McDonaugh - got guessing defensively at times and seemed to get poor spacing with his line mates at times but definitely looks like there is something to work with here. Has a big stride and this can allow him to get some separation. Best thing in this game was him scoring. Wish Tocchet would give these kind of players more time.

Rathbone - I think he is looking better. Moved the puck well from the back and kept inside position better. Got pushed into some traps around the net and forced into some turnovers but fought hard to get back in position. Not playing much but an improvement over earlier in the year.

Team looks exactly like they did to end last year. Maybe even worse
