Well that was quite shit really.

Imagine where the Flamers would be without Markstrom (who they didn't even play today), Tanev, Toffoli, Tkachuk, and Rasmussen. And they've even got f***ing Lucic and Gudbranson rumbling around there. Benning built a better team in Alberta than he did here.

No beef with Halak. Stuff gets said in the heat of the moment when shit goes south sometimes...not as if the game wasn't over by the time he came long.

No idea what has to happen for some people around here to admit to themselves the Canucks just aren't ready to seriously compete and need to make major changes before they are. OEL and Myers are trash. Massively, stupidly expensive trash. And that's just the beginning. Look at the deal Lindholm just signed in Boston, then look at Myers and OEL's deals.

And there are people still defending Benning. Insane.

It's minor, but Bailey and Dowling should be ahead of Chiasson and Petan on the depth chart.

Maybe it's me, but Burroughs and Juulsen look to be much better defencemen than Hamonic. That Burroughs guy plays with much more passion than Hamonic, has he even dropped the gloves this season?

This isn't a 'coaching issue' as much as it is a player personnel issue. This team is just too soft and too slow. It's there for anybody to see, despite their run of success over the past couple of months.

This is it entirely. There is not one player on this team, save for Schenn, that is willing to play with any grit or muscle. No hitting, no pushing back, there's just nothing. I know Horvat doesn't consider that to be a part of his game, but as captain he's a big enough guy that he could play with a lot more edge and lead the team into the fray. They need grit and pushback. Unfortunately they have none, and haven't had any since the days of Burrows, Kesler, Bieksa and crew.

It's funny, I told my Dad this morning we would be lucky if we were only down by 2 goals after half a period.

I should have real bet.. lol

The Flames coasted last night. They were embarrassed 3 weeks ago by us, as well as stopping their 10 game win streak.
They were big time embarrassed, and I am not surprised at all with tonights outcome.

They are a team firing on all cylinders and were coming in tonight to destroy us early.

Who is really surprised?

P.S. Put money on the Flames in the playoffs...

So what's our excuse this time?

BB has squeezed enough out of this roster that it put a film of optimism over our eyes. This is still a playoff wannabe team at best.

He was told on the bench by Bruce at the end of the 2nd that he was going into the 3rd. His reaction was bad.

Elliot Freidman speculates that he thought he was going to play tomorrow, and him going in tonight would mean Demko is starting tomorrow and he felt he was being cheated a start.
Hell start him again vs Buffalo. Give Demko a rest. Sadly our chances of making playoffs are so slim to none.

Maybe he will have a decent game and up his value in time for Monday (a 5th or 6th, instead of 7th).

I don’t get why you’d be upset to actually play. Your sole job is to backup our starter. You didn’t see Demko complaining when he had to come in to relieve you those couple games.

Canucks can basically only afford five more losses in the remaining 19 games or they're done. There's no chance on holy hell this team wins 14 of its remaining games. Stick a fork in them--they are done.

Now what? The team Benning left behind is too old, too slow and too soft. They've got four d-men on the north side of 30 and a collection of pillowy-soft wingers without much grit.

They've basically got a goalie; a blue-chip d-man in Hughes; and a number one center in Pettersson, assuming he's healthy. Their only real trading chips are Miller, Horvat, Garland and maybe Schenn. The rest of the roster you couldn't trade for a used bag of hockey pucks.

The baton is now passed to Allvin and 'Trader Jim'. Time to bring out the TNT and blow it up.

Well at least they didn’t get shut out.

#moralvictories

In actual fact while this team looks better under Boudreau the underlying numbers in terms of possession etc aren’t changing that much. He just put in a system that helps cover that up better than what Green did. Green seemed hell bent on exposing how bad a roster it was.

And let’s face it the reasons the record under Boudreau is what it is, is because of the first 9 games and Demko having a 0.930 sv% for 2+ months. He’s come back down to earth a bit and the numbers in the L column start to go up. Note that he’s still making more huge saves than any goaltender in the league every time he’s between those pipes but it’s not remotely enough anymore especially when there are some weaker goals happening. Not outright stinkers but ones that when he’s really on get stopped.

It’s been a bit of fun the last few months but the season was over by the time the regime change took place. Well as many of us predicted it was over as soon as that regime was allowed to stay on folllowing last season.
