Lack of top end talent combined with lack of depth do that to youI know Sutter was an asshole but do you think Huska is too nice?
These guys tonight are playing like they are in the 4th game of a 6 day road trip.
Soft goals isn't based on actually watching, it's based on save percentage.Soft goals?
Goal #1 was through a screen. Goal #2 was a breakaway and #3 was shelfed from in tight.
You are right about the pre-season though. Get cardio and timing back, and try not to get injured.
People wanted Vladar waived because he allowed 7 against Edmonton: 1 breakaway goal, 5 golden slot chances with no defence, and one where he passed the puck up the middle( that one is on him)Soft goals isn't based on actually watching, it's based on save percentage.
>.900 means the goalie did everything he could and the goals weren't his fault.
<.900 means the goals were soft and it's all the goalie's fault.
Literally last season in a nutshell.People wanted Vladar waived because he allowed 7 against Edmonton: 1 breakaway goal, 5 golden slot chances with no defence, and one where he passed the puck up the middle( that one is on him)
No one wants Vladar gone. People want to give the best goalie not in the NHL for the past two years a chance to prove he’s a top ten goalie in the world.People wanted Vladar waived because he allowed 7 against Edmonton: 1 breakaway goal, 5 golden slot chances with no defence, and one where he passed the puck up the middle( that one is on him)
You've wanted Markstrom and Vladar traded for two years. At the first sign of trouble with Markstrom, during an anomalous, out of nowhere bad season, you were proclaiming it should have been Wolf's net already. No one wants Vladar gone. I haven’t been a fan of Markstrom for a while. You've wanted Markstrom and Vladar traded for two years. At the first sign of trouble with Markstrom, during an anomalous, out of nowhere bad season, you were proclaiming it should have been Wolf's net already.
People really need to temper their expectations on what Wolf can provide this season. Yes he is the best goalie prospect in hockey and has the potential to be a top 5 goalie in the league but dominating the AHL is a far cry from even being good in the NHL still. He is the best because he is doing at his age, not because of what he’s doing. Just look at the rest of the goalies leading the league behind Wolf, it’s a who’s who of guys who couldn’t make it in the league. Would’ve been nothing wrong with slowly breaking him into the league as a backup, but bringing him in for some starts this season while giving him plenty of time in the AHL to practice what gets identified in his stints with the top team is a perfectly good plan as well.
I also fully believe what some of the insiders have said, the Flames are waiting for Wolf to absolutely force their hand with his play at the NHL level to get rid of a goalie. He didn’t accomplish that this pre season so now he has to utilize his spot starts to do so.worst comes to worse, Vldar becomes even more easily traceable next offseason when he has a year left on his deal.
I’m trying to get excited about Huska but he seems like such a cardboard cutout vanilla coach. Gulutzan 2.0
Clearly above the rest of the career AHL goalies*. You are underselling the jump from the AHL to NHL. For example, the goalie you want traded away with picks attached to make room for Wolf authored a 2.19 GAA and a .923 in the AHL before making the jump, which are also dominant numbers. Easing Wolf into the NHL instead of throwing him to the wolves isn’t the worst option to minimize the risks of ruining his mental game.No goalie is all that close to Wolf at all. That doesn't guarantee anything but to pretend he isn't clearly a cut above the rest is under selling him

I agree the jump is huge at F and D. Not for goalies.Clearly above the rest of the career AHL goalies*. You are underselling the jump from the AHL to NHL.
