I will say Wayne Gretzky. I remember hearing about him playing in Indy when I was in college in Cincinnati. It took another year for Edmonton to be in the NHL. There could be several others, but he is the one that I remember.
Update: Gary Lupul of the Canucks is about a month younger than me. Milwaukee wasn't a spot that he was sent to play. They were affiliated around the late 1980s. Mark Crawford played for both teams, but is close to Gretzky in age, being born in early 1961 or about 2 years younger than me.
