Galchenyuk is quite a master of obtaining possession of the puck when on the offensive attack. Since he's been gone, our 5-on-5 became even worse than it already was because almost everyone has has butterfingers when it comes to obtaining the puck...

u wot?

Galchenyuk is one of our weakest players along the boards. He loses the puck more often than DD.

So sick of this team, are we in yet another 5 year plan? Too small to compete and if it does not change the results will stay the same.

The refs also fell for Briere's dive. You can't have it both ways guys, you sound like a buncha fanboys.

Yes, we are fanboys of the habs. This is the habs board....

As a fan of the habs if you are not going crazy at that sequence where Gallagher was prevented from leaving the zone .. something is wrong with you ... that was a real farce. A total joke. I've never seen anything like this.

Nah it's not a 5 year plan. It's a "let Timmins draft while I do commercials and buy new suits and pray to god for a miracle" plan.

Not trying to cause trouble here but that is payback for Briere diving on the Thorborn penalty. Plus Gallagher continually interferes with the goalie as he does not stand in front of the crease, he stands in the crease.

Wow does the CBC ever love Montreal.

Anyway, first time in three years we beat you guys in Montreal. Good luck the rest of the way.

That was total ******** and you know it. It was absolute bush league reffing.

Carey Price pulled a "Denis Herron" for the Jets winner. If you are old enough you will know what I mean. Aside from that Price isnt the issue at all. Its a mediocre team that has a bonehead for a coach who cannot seem to figure out what might work when the team cannot score or needs a shakeup. Finally Gallagher's Schtick is wearing a little thin on me. If you are going to be a agitator or a pest dont take stupid penalties and put the puck in the net FFS!!!

Even if he didn't let that goal in it likely wouldn't have mattered. You can't expect to win hockey games by only scoring 1-2 goals a game. Patches-DD-Gallagher need to be broken up. Or at least get DD off that line since something isn't clicking with them right now.

Easy to figure out where the game was decided...Habs get 3 posts and Winnipeg gets 2 goals on non scoring chances.

They played well enough to win but didn't get the saves or the breaks. Montoya got lucky on a few other shots also, the puck was tricking by the post or behind him a couple more tmes.

The 2 games this weekend the effort was there, unlike the NJ, Detroit and Washington games. They have to keep shooting and some of those posts will go in.

If the Canadiens coaching-staff does not alter the power-play strategy or a powerplay specialist is not acquired in the coming weeks, this team will continue to struggle to score goals. They need to start bringing the puck down-low and working it to the slot more often. Problem is that Desharnais is not deft enough at creating space on the powerplay to do that. Galchenyuk would be a good option at solving this issue on the PP, but he is hurt.

Fact of the matter is the Habs are playing good team-defense five-on-five; but that is not enough: the Habs have to score on the pp or they wont win.

Gionta as a top-six forward is troublesome. Bourque, Briere and Desharnais are solid pieces to a team, but should not be regarded as integral to generating offense five-on-five.

Habs management is faced with a few choices:

1. Fix powerplay either through coaching or a trade
2. Acquire a top-six winger to help at even-strength
3. Decide whether selling is a good option or whether buying is a good option. Knowing Bergevin I believe he will stand-pat because he thinks the team is not Stanley Cup calibre. The only way a big trade will occur is if he believes it will benefit the Canadiens two or three years down the road. Top quality players are extraordinarily expensive to acquire mid-season.
4. Make a coaching change to pump some adrenaline into his uninspired, listless te

Not going to blame the refs.

Our team just sucks. Plain and simple. Can't score.

It would be real nice to see some changes. You know, since what we have clearly isn't working? Dreaming.

I'm also sick of the "Live and die by the power play" mentality in Montreal. How about hire a coach with a system in which you don't need to rely on special teams night in and night out. Sure, special teams are important, but a good team's success shouldn't be defined by how good their power play is. This team has been garbage 5 on 5 for years. We need a team who can competently compete 5 on 5.

When a player gets mauled all game long in front of the net you don't think that warrants a call? You've lost all credibility with that post.
Good thing I didn't have much to begin with.

Falling for Briere's dive is one thing, but to miss Gallagher being held, bumped around, and tripped 50 feet away from the puck while he's trying to clear the zone.
I know it sucks but this teams' issues are not due to the refs, we didn't lose because of the refs, we lost because we're the softest, weakest, least talented grinding team in the league.

An apathetic, arrogant, no-nothing GM. A greedy owner. A "brain trust" half-filled with punchdrunk never-beens. A D-list coach who favours d-list players. A handful of budding talents wilting before our eyes.

And you guys are blaming the refs?

And the "speed" label is so funny......Then people start watching other teams and wonder if their TV was ****ed up during a Habs game as the game seemed in slo-mo....

The habs used to be really fast like 5 years ago. Somehow, that label stays with them. I dont get it either.
