Brent's comments were so hardcore they even made the rounds on sports talk shows up here.

I hope we dress Westgarth just to knock Brouwer's teeth in. He played with Semin for less than a year, where does he get off ripping him?

If Skinner is out long term we should pick up a winger like Simon Gagne, Setoguchi, Etc on the cheap to throw on the second line until he or Ruutu gets back. Staal is playing with worse players than he was in Pits. At the very least can we put Jokinen on the second and get a third line center? Dwyer looks 'ok' but guys like Dalpe, Bowman, LaRose are not cutting it.

I realize the honeymoon is still there, and I understand Semin probably will score tonight, but what did Brouwer say that was wrong? He's not exactly the first guy to say it (Bradley, and more than a few in the press box)

There are nights where he didn't show up. That's fact. He takes dumb penalties that hurt the team. He didn't have any desire to play defense at times. He's got more offensive ability than probably all but 3 or 4 players in the league. If he wanted to do so each night, he could dominate. He was the most gifted Caps player. But, he, for whatever reason, didn't do it each night.

It wasn't all on him, and there are a few people who do the same still on the roster. They're certainly not better for him scoring wise, but I think in the locker room they replaced him with a few hardworking guys who fit better.

It's not exactly classy, but then again Semin didn't exactly leave with wonderful things to say.

I wish him well, he's one of my favorite players, but enigmatic is Semin all over. Hopefully a change is the best thing for his career.

What's the point of Brouwer saying anything at all? He played with him for a year and the guy is no longer on the team. Why bring up that can of worms? To me he sounded like the dude who got dumped by the love of his life after finding out she's getting married to someone else.

Semin is no longer on that team, no longer a teammate. If you didn't like him, then be happy that he is someone esle's problem. No need to rip a guy.

Until Ruutu comes back, the line needs a compliment to Skinner and JStaal. I think Jokinen is the answer...

Unfortunately I don't have much choice but to agree, given our options... I was just pointing out that the change has already been made. The fact that it wasn't noticed, well, that says a lot.

Do you really think it's a good idea to go to the media to air your negative opinion of a guy you only played with for a partial season, the day before you play that guy's new team? C'mon now.

Unfortunately, I don't think Jokinen has done enough to justify another contract with this organization once this current one is up.

Muller has tried everything he can to get him going, and he's just murdering it out there with his inability to bury anything. Wide open nets and he can't do anything. At a certain point, you just have to make the decision that he's not worth it anymore and look to replace him through trade.

He was asked a question and answered honestly. I don't think it's the most classy thing to say, but I do think guys should be more honest at times.

I always find it funny when players and fans of a BAD team still point to former players as a reason for their misfortunes in the present.

The Caps are in second to last place in the league. They very well may win tonight, but this is as far from a full strength Canes roster that you're going to see. That does not change the fact that they are a noticeably WORSE team ever since they decided to lessen Semin's role, eventually kicking him off the team.

They made this bed, they're now sleeping in it, and it stinks, and as such, they're lashing out against everyone else to take the attention away from the issues now.

I'm sure if Joe Corvo went to the media and said that Ovechkin is a selfish, unmotivated floater, you would find his honesty refreshing and receive those comments with warmth and understanding. Especially when a Hurricanes fan showed up on the Caps board to tell everyone that he's right.

Sorry but you have no idea what you're talking about.

Semin is labelled enigmatic, locker room cancer, lazy, can'tplay big games, eetc etc

He gets pinpointed when there is NO reason for it. He doesn't perform any worse than let's say a Backstrom (who I also love) yet semin was always relegated to lesser line mates that can't play his skilled game of hockey. He rarely played with someone on his skill level, Yet he still performed. Go look at some advanced stats with your hate shades off. He makes his line mates better defensively and offensively. He doesn't call out past teammates. He is always trying to lighten the mood at practices with a smile and having fun during games. He is an amazing playmaker always trying g to set up his teammates first. He was one of the best 2 way forwards on the caps when given the assignment.

Semin is definition of DEFAMATION OF CHARACTER.

He gets unfairly called with penalties because of it, received an embarrassingly amount of negative pr on free agency that was off base completely affecting HIS Career.

**** the ignorance, you don't know **** and I'm sick of all this coming up again from Washington fans.

You want an idea of lockeroom cancer? Go look at troy brouwer. Calling out current teammates over the summer. Calling out former teammates that are more connected to the franchise then himself. Hell troys captain was having dinner with semin that night. They are close friends for years. You don't think that's affecting someone mentally while firing up his opponents simultaneously?

Cancer.

It all boils down to the organization. And Washington is a sorry excuse for one. I don't recall brouwer calling out players in chicago. 2nd round playoff blunders? Sorry that wasn't just semin, it was the whole team mailing it in. Go re watch Tampa Bay series it was pathetic. That's not one player. The Washington capitals, since the first day I started watching them (acquiring fedorov) have been one of the most disjointed, poorly ran, non accountable franchises I've ever seen. And pointing the finger everywhere else is just another example of it.

Yet lets still dissect it.
So why is he being singled out? If it wasn't for him and his round 1 performances they'd have a tougher time getting into the 2nd round. Hell they might not even make the playoffs this year. Coincidence? I don't think so. Semin has been asking for a 2nd line center to the likes of ribeiro for years. They would have been perfect together. But Washington threw it in his face. **** that

Why is Sasha always being singled out?

I know why

He's a defenseless target that is misunderstood on all accounts. And his detractors are feeble minded asshats stuck in their old ways of what is required of a hockey player. They must grind, they most dump n chase, they must not have fun, they must not smile, be robots, be soldiers, be emotionless, for the team for the team, and they must be Canadian. Let's keep the personal shots at the Caps posters out of this and stick to the comments by Brower and other pre-game stuff. Chimaera was honest in his take and wasn't posting in a manner that should generate this type of ire towards him.

That also said, Brower is a ****ing tool for those comments. I'm fine with people not being PC about things, but is he really that dumb as to give that kind of ammo to his upcoming opponents? Just say "I'm not going to answer questions about that" and move on. Instead he goes out to the media repeatedly to throw former and even current teammates (lockout saga) under the bus just to get in from of a mic. Honestly surprised that there hasn't been a report of him getting his ass handed to him in practice given the type of **** he pulls, it's almost too bad Hamrlik isn't that type of guy.

Could you imagine the media ****show if Semin (a Russian) had called Brouwer (a Canadian) lazy?

The resulting chaos and next episode of "Coach's Corner" would fulfill my life

That might be the most hilarious moment of the season, in the entire NHL. If Semin just straight-out called somebody lazy on camera. Especially if he did it with a slight look of disdain, as if he were really judging the hell out of them.

Sorry dude but Bowman has looked very good in every role he's been given this year. His first goal of the season was a laser. LaRose has flat out sucked. I didn't really get why Dalpe was sent down originally but I'll definitely give Kirk the benefit of the doubt on that one (Dalpe's scoring tear in the AHL seems to reinforce that decision).

I don't get the minimizing of Drayson, he's done anything and everything that was asked of him and with the exception of the Montreal game, I personally think he's played quite well all season long.

I know that Capt. Kirk likes his big 4th lines, but I'd relegate Chad to that line (where he has played quite well in a role that he is terrifically suited for) with a couple of big guys (Welsh, Wallace, or even Westy) and give 'em 8 to 10 minutes a game. We do well when our 4th line plays with energy and grit and plays significant minutes. Let Bowman have 2nd or 3rd line minutes. He's earned it and has proven a net positive when given opportunities.
