That's awesome. Kind of wish I watched. Very happy for John and his family. The money and the car are actually a meaningful amount to his family, too, wich is both awesome and rare in an ASG. Great guy. So glad that this is how things turned out for him. He's got to be on cloud nine right now and he deserves it. Hopefully this leads to a return to the NHL for him. If not, i hope he hangs them up on a high note, without having suffered any serious injuries.

This. Every time Scott was on the ice I was engaged and wanted to see him do something.

This is the first time in years I watched the all star game. The last game was actually entertaining. And I'm glad Scott came of it with a pretty good amount of cash, a new car.

Most importantly his family being there. His mom (I think it was) jumping up and down when he won MVP was great.

Hands down a great weekend for the Scott family. I'm glad they enjoyed it!

Also, nobody gives a **** about the all star game. Stop acting like it's a missed opportunity. It's a non-event that is paid no attention by anyone.

I think John Scott cared about it quite a bit ;)

If Scott's words in the article is to be believed, lost some respect for Maloney.

Don't get me wrong, the trade was great. I did like Scott, but Tinordi is the kind of dman we desperately need.

However in terms of "intangibles" off the ice, Scott seemed to be very well liked by his teammates and a great locker room guy.

The timing also couldn't be worse.

Wonder if this will alienate any future players from coming to the Yotes or make an impact on our players in the long run?

You rarely see guys that are very well liked by players, coaches, and fans get traded like Scott was.

Happy for John Scott
Can't believe I'm saying this but, the fans may just have been right

I have said more than once on these boards how I thought the ASG was a joke and the 3vs3 makes is more so. Man was I wrong, I truly enjoyed it, and Scott being named MVP really topped it off. The NHL might have fallen into something big here as far as the fan vote goes. Maybe they can have the fans vote on a unsung hero type player to play in the ASG. Scott may not have been a all around all star, but he is for the role he plays on his team.

This ASG could not have turned out any better for all involved.

Alright, I've been meaning to say this for a few weeks now, but you are legitimately one of the funniest posters on HF. You always have the wittiest responses and it makes me kek every time.

Agreed, he doesn't post often but when he does it almost always make me chuckle.

Thank you. Glad I can bring an occasional smile. I try to lighten the mood since it is just a game. You must like Dad jokes from a 53 year old.

The "Unsung Heroes Game" could be an interesting concept, as long as it doesn't turn into a Coyotes vs. Predators game circa 2011, aka just a bunch of grinders.

Now I'm pretty sad I missed the 3 on 3 tournament of the ASG (I got to watch most of the skills competition last night though).

On the other hand I just made $120 to ref Oceanside's D league... #sacrifices

Have one player for each team. Take Gordon or Fiddler for example and how they PK. It takes a certain type player to block a puck that is flying towards your head at 100 MPH, same for Dman. These type of players don't get the recognition they deserve. It's not always about points.

John Scott is all over official NHL social media. Not a peep about Scott on official Coyotes social media. A bit ironic as the NHL gushing over Scott could make them come off a bit better with the egg left remaining on Maloney & Co.

Very happy for Scott. He's made the absolute best and just made a whole lotta lemonade with the lemons dealt to him.

Watching the 3 on 3 games right now and absolutely loving it. Maybe 4 on 4 would be even better but they're both better than 5 on 5 for the ASG.

Country singer Dirks Bentley earns 1 Schrute Buck for calling being on the bench, "a beer league player's dream."

Seguin-to-Byfuglien goal to make it 4-7 might have been the ultimate "holy crap these guys are good" moment. A couple strides and Buff went from the red line to scoring. Dat NHL speed, man. Dat NHL speed.

I don't need to see another enforcer type again, but I would love to see 1 or 2 role players make it into this game every year. Zbynek Michalek. Stephane Robidas. Boyd Gordon. Grab one off the defending Stanley Cup champs like Oduya would be this year and you'll add "that" element.

If this is John Scott's last game in the NHL, two goals, a hit and a fight is a great way to do it.

No, probably not, and especially not if Tinordi at all works out. From everything I've read it sounds like we're the team he'll get his deserved chance with.

What a great night for Scott, that was awesome. Just the type of thing that overall makes you smile when it comes to him. i dont know how anyone could have not enjoyed the game tonight, the on-ice product was exciting and the goalies were great, and a fantastic moment for the sport

What i'm wondering is if you guys think the coyotes missed a massive good PR opportunity here, instead of embracing it and just ****ing going with it and supporting their guy and making it kind of funny too playing off of his personality..... they seemed to shy away from the limelight so to speak and then he was traded. Not to mention the whole shady situation of trading scott in the first place, i suppose all of the details are not there yet, people are saying the NHL told them to do it yadda yadda, I really just look at the fact that he was waived and then no one wanted him and suddenly he has trade value... hmmmm... something isnt right here. The coyotes twitter account going dark tonight on Scott is further evidence that they are not handling it well and not really going with the more modern marketing technique of spinning a current event to their advantage with witty social media (look at Columbus's social media account for some funny/good stuff, like a tweet @ ESPN, i can link it in another post but i'm lazy)

To me this is an example of being handed a silver platter to get good PR and marketing buzz around the yotes but completely botching it. not sure if it's fair or not, just a thought that came in to my mind while watching John the entire night and thinking, man, there should be a Coyotes logo on his sweater.

So i guess with everyone saying, "Oh this is the best possible outcome for everyone happened, NHL looks good with the 3v3 format and with giving him the MVP, and Scott played great and it's an amazing moment for him", obviously that's totally true, but isnnt it the best possible outcome for everyone EXCEPT the Coyotes who kind of ended up getting boned (for lack of a better phrase lol)? i can tell you that people are freaking out about it on reddit, it's on the top 5 posts of r/all, r/hockey is going crazy, etc, people are saying "wow this is my first time watching hockey and i loved it, which team should i follow"? that's a niche example, i know, but the coyotes could have been gaining buzz and fans with John Scott not traded.

The all-star weekend had some fun moments between PK's Jagr, Burns's Chewbacca and of course the man of the hour John Scott. It was fun watching him make the best of it and nice that he can actually use the money and car in earnest. I'm glad things worked out for him, this whole scenario was thrust upon him, he didn't ask for it but he sure made the best of it. Feel goods all around!

This had the potential to be a total trainwreck, please NHL either stop allowing fans to vote or accept that you will be trolled yearly and embrace it.
