TRADE ANNOUNCEMENT

:jets :flames

The Calgary Flames have acquired defenseman Josh Morrissey and forward Scott Kosmachuk from the Winnipeg Jets, in exchange, the Flames have sent to the Jets forwards Curtis Glencross and Mikael Backlund. Flames will retain 50% of Glencross salary.

''We are very high on Josh (Morrissey). We believe he has top pairing, and even number one D upside. He's a tremendous offensive defenseman that killed the Dub this year. He's an awesome skater with great vision, puck moving and shot from the point. We are happy to add a defenseman of Josh caliber to our core''.

''Scott (Kosmachuk) is a an hard-working two-way forward with skills, he really exploded offensively this year. He has guy with top 6 upside, he'll add some nice depth to our RW position. He's a guy that impress us how he can creates offense with a mixtes of his skills, skating and hard-work''.

The addition of Petrovic allowed us to move Josh. Curtis is a the type of player that gives 110% every time on the ice and those are the types of players that we here in Winnipeg believe that you can never be short on.

Glencross waived to Winnipeg but not Florida?
Makes sense to me. Location is everything for Glencross. He's a Stampede farm boy so I'd assume Florida isn't his type. He's from Saskatchewan too so it keeps him close to home.

Unless someone want to make a last minute offer on Plekanec or Desharnais, both top 6Cs we are done. We didn't mess much with a winning formula. We replaced Vanek with Stastny, replaced Emelin with Robidas and added Johansson to the mix. Very happy with this final product.

Pretty thrilled with team. Added a top-flight prospect in Nylander to an already deep prospect pool, acquired some great support pieces up front and defensively in Hemsky, Little, Zuccarello, Tanev, Redmond and Pitkanen. And a perfect compliment to Luongo in Chad Johnson.

Not super happy with our goalie situation, but feel much better about our forwards and scoring. I like how big we are down the middle: Backes, Thornton, Sobotka, Matthias, with other centre options in: Berglund, Pavelski, and Lapierre. Didn't touch the defense, which was stellar last year.

While not all of our offseason goals were accomplished, overall the Winnipeg Jets feel confident that our lineup going into next season will provide the team with a chance to make a push for the playoffs.

How'd Subban deal with being told that Markov is $100,000 better then he is? :D

Didn't accomplish everything we hoped to, in large part due to NTC's :)rant:). Myers in our opinion is a future top pairing defender, and we added quite a bit of grit and experience in Richards, Ott, Moss and Morris. We hope that Gagner can take the next step in his offensive development playing with Mike who will open up more ice for him, and we are confident that Yak will rebound after a disappointing sophomore year. Players like Nurse and Draisaitl will be given an opportunity to make the team out of camp, however, we expect that we will be sending them back to junior for another year.

Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Jurco
Kreider-Franzen-Nyqvist
Komarov-Shehan -Alfredsson
Miller-Helm-Abdelkader
Weiss, Jolkinen

extras: Heatley, Plukkinen

Pavs and Z want to be together, so we are going to run with it. Jurco is a big bodied young scorer that we feel can fill the "holmstrom" role on their line. If he falters in it though we'll swap him with Alfredsson who can be just as effective.

Franzen is at 2C to start. If Olli Jolkinen has a good camp or Weiss re-discovers his game Mule will go down to 3LW, pushing Komarov to the 4th line and Miller or Abs to 13th F. Or Shehan could move up to 2C if he impresses, but i'd rather have him learn from a savvy vet like Alfie to continue to grow.

The main issue last year was depth, someone is ALWAYS injured in Detroit. We now have 14 NHL-capable forwards, plus brought in Dany Heatley for a look in camp and Plukkinen is knocking on the door, tho he may stay in GR next year.

Kronwall-Bieksa
Ericsson-Stralman
Dekeyser-Smith
Barberio

extras: Marchenko, Almqvist

We had no real RHD option, now we have 2 quality Top 4 RHDs in Bieksa and Stralman. Dekeyser and Smith could push for more ice time, but I like the mix of Stralman's offensive skills and Ericsson's defensive ability. Barberio was a surprise pickup after playing decent in TBay and willmake a good #7, giving Marchenko, Almqvist another year to season.

Howard
Mzarek

We considered gettign a backup, but Mzarek has more than earned his shot. He'll get 25-40 games depending on his performance and on Howard's
