I asked this before in this thread but I think it got buried, any rumors on what Aho will re-sign for next season? How much term + AAV?
Ferland, Frolik, Gillies?
FYI, Backlund is not under-performing, neither is Frolik. I don't even want to mention Brouwer. lol
What the f*** are you talking about? Frolik had been living up to his contract until he broke his jaw this year. Backlund exceeded his contract that just ended and has been a Selke calibre player for us and wouldn't be available anyways. Brouwer is the only you listed that hasn't lived up to his contract.hmm im struggling to find one that helps the Canes. I'd expect the NHL wingers that you'd be willing to move are ones that are under-performing their contract, like Frolik, Brouwer and Backlund.
How about
Ferland
One of your young goalies (preferably Rittich)
+ something
Confirmed, you have never watched a Flames game and know absolutely nothing about the players you are shit talkingadding Frolik might get to say no but I know Calgary needs to shed salary too. Saying Backlund is under-performing might be a stretch but he did score under 50 and I'd bet we see a continual gradual decline over his lengthy contract. Come 2020 I'd expect he would have negative value. This past season Frolik did under perform with 25 points and a negative +/-. He did well with averaging 40 points the 4 seasons prior.
Dont hate it and am not sold on it. Probably means its a decent trade. Ferland was signed longer or hard RFA rights I would be okay with it. Ferland is they type of player we need. A constant physical presence that scores goals.
my + something was going to be a pick but Calgary doesnt have many left. Maybe Hall. We could use a RHD in the system.
That was 2 years ago he is getting 7+F. Forsberg and his $6 mil x 6 years 2nd contract is a good comparable for Aho, imo. Adjust for cap inflation and that's in the $6.5 mil range. Perhaps the Canes up the AAV a bit to get an extra year or two.

Hoe's take less money? He's Aho though and wouldn't be too surprised if he goes 8yx6M.
He deserves more though. From the Carolina I'd really push for the 8 years with him.

Yeah, if he keeps progressing this season I've got to believe that Aho is getting north of $7m, especially since Dundon singled him out as the one untouchable Cane. And if he has a really successful year at center? If I was his agent I'd be pushing for around 8, or a bridge deal.

These are the notable long-term 2nd contracts for young 1st liners over the past several years and the equivalent AAVs for various potential ceiling figures.
Aho doesn't have that much bargaining power this offseason. Tarasenko and Draisaitl, the 10%+ guys on that list, were close to a PPG in the season prior to the extension. The same is applicable to next highest in Gaudreau. The rest were in the 60-70 point range Aho is in now. Aho may be better off gambling on himself. I think Carolina pushes to get him locked up to protect against a breakout.
Perhaps I undersold Aho using the Forsberg and the rest of the 2016 class for the comp; Pastrnak may have set the market for the Larkin/Marner/Nylander/Aho/Rantanen class. We'll see.
Interestingly, RFA 2nd contracts haven't moved that much since the days of Seguin/Hall/Skinner/Eberle and a ~$64 mil cap ceiling. The $82 mil equivalent for Hall is nearly $7.7 mil.
Guess it all comes down to if he signs this season, or the end of next season and if it is long term.
I do not see a issue with offering him 7x8
And how he's playing next season as negotiations are under way. Like I said, if he starts out tearing it up at center, it's going to cost the Canes. Which would be a good thing, lol.
Couldn't they sign him to an extension on July 1, before the season starts?
