It's a crazy statistic, but Erik Karlsson has been on the ice for 11 out of the 13 goals that Vegas has scored, many of them when he has a direct involvement in the play. He looks completely disinterested, floating around and unwilling to sell out to block a shot. Many replays show him getting lost in no man's land and just completely oblivious to any plays that he can anticipate.

Karlsson and Burns have been the worst defensive duo this first round so far, but at least Burns is actively trying to defend whilst Karlsson is literally playing pylon in his own zone.

Being down two top 4 defenseman and coming back from a groin injury and forced to play almost 30 mins. Not great.

Definitely injured. He can barely move out there at times and right now is a complete liability. Golden Knights are getting the Stone line out there scoring every chance they get against him and unfortunately for Karlsson he's being forced to play half the game basically.

His foot injury in 2017 was very severe. He played through it and managed to put up a dominant performance.

He might end up regretting playing through it and turning down the 88 million the Sens offered. Not likely byt crazuly to think that maybe!

Last two big playoff runs he's been in he's been hurt (still played incredible in 2017 tho). What happens to the team that signs him for 7-8 years??? Injuries usually don't get better as pro athletes age for the most part.

Groin is a different beast. You can wrap an ankle/foot and battle through, while a groin even the slightest awkward movement you get a shooting pain and skating has lots of those movements... it really f's up your whole stride and I can only imagine skating backwards would be tough as heck.

posted this in the other thread but look at him cross over the wrong way and drift outside the dotline on Stones first goal last night...what on Earth. As soon as the puck goes back to the other side of the ice, he needs to sag and protect the middle.

he must be struggling with injury and quick twitch movements.

You can really see it when he tries to turn.

It’s too bad as it’s a big stage and I actually like watching the guy play.

Also keep in mind that Karl has 5 points in 3 games, Crosby has 0 in 3 games. Just for some perspective. Yes he's been useless defensively but we don't really have any other options.

Just about to post the same thing. His positioning has not been good most night.

That injury he played through in 2017 is something you're usually not even supposed to be walking on for 6 weeks, much less playing three rounds of the Stanley Cup Playoffs on. Admirable effort but a really really bad idea. Groins can be easy to tweak as well, certainly doesn't look fully healthy. Takes a toll on your mental as well going through injuries like that, not to mention the Achilles injury he had prior. Makes you tentative and anxious about injuring it again, and for playoff hockey that's not a way you can play. Sad to see, hopefully he takes the offseason to get himself right again.
