I'm happy that the Jackets have found some success. That fanbase has been through some bullshit, and we of all people should know what that's like.

The difference between actually healthy and "Oilers healthy" has been a very blurry line for quite some time. Don't need to rush either one. If they have nagging injuries then let them heal.

In a competitive league where only 16 of 31 teams make the playoffs and partake in that golden nectar called playoff gate revenue, if you think the majority of teams don't have players in their starting lineups who are playing with ouchies or nagging injuries...well, I can't say it any other way then to suggest you have blinders on.

And just my opinion, this whole "The Oilers rush their players back!" narrative might have had some legs back in the Tambo/MacT days, but with Chiarelli/McLellan they seem much more regimented and structured when it comes to how they handle players returning from injury, almost maddeningly so. I've not seen any sort of evidence in recent times to suggest they rush anyone back.

Well, that's what happens when you let such goal scoring luminaries like Ben Eager and Ladislav Smid (twice!) score against you.
Ben Eager, now that brings back memories. Toughest guy in the league or some nonsense.

Wasn't he the guy who got flashed in the Vancouver penalty box during the playoffs?

Maybe.

I'm still struggling to figure out why that would be a bad thing though. ;)

As I remember she had a nice pair. But it's Vancouver, she was probably high or something.

It's funny to look at the roster from a few years ago and see how many players we used to employ are now well out of the league.

Sounds like Slepyshev in for Cagguila.

That's great news. Hopefully Drai can have him on his line where Slepy is most effective. At least gives us a player that has a shot.

This game hard to figure out, CLB is up and down and they've had players with funky starts and the expansion draft hurt a bit. My take is CLB is not near the team they were last year despite that, with Panarin, they should be better. Team sports is odd like that. One would expect the Jackets to be improved and they are not.

Atkinson isn't replicating his 30 goal season and the PP is a lot worse.

That explains most of it. Bobrovsky is as good as ever.

My lord those lines are horrible. This is putting a lot of winger eggs in one basket and giving Nuge and Drai very little to work with.

I hate when the McBlender is pulled out so often then it lands on something like this and then it sticks. We're going identical top 3 lines after a game in which we couldn't score or shoot straight.

That's what happens when you have putrid winger depth.

Man I used to ravage Ben Eager. A case of a player that was pathetic on and off the ice. "Just what we need" and "promise me you'll love this player" were all the usual comments here. Which used to precede almost any garbage player the org airlifted in for years. Depressingly, under Chia its returned to that and we have to look at guys like Malone, Strome, Walker because according to Chia "no cavalry are coming" No guns either..Just march up and get shot, charge of the light brigade stuff.

Is it fitting this game is against the Blue Jackets with Civil war themes?

ps The Oilers could use their cannon. We got none.

Seems some of the Oilers best dangle goals have come against Columbus, Mcdavid and Hall. Lets keep that a thing ;)

Watching those old high lights was a trip down memory lane. It seemed when we had Hemsky, Penner and Visnovsky on the PP it clicked. It's too bad Penner just packed it in.
