No it doesn't. If you have to tell people to watch it over and over, it fails to do what is intended. It's more distracting than informative.

No it doesn't. There are 20 names on that list and it flashes for a few seconds at most. It's a terrible gif and there's no reason for it to exist, other than someone thought gifs were cool. Form follows function.

Sorry, the information probably reads faster and easier to fans who follow the team.

I can see why it would be confusing if otherwise.

This must be the 1st time in the history of the NHL that a GM traded 2 1st overall picks in the same offseason off the same team. The man also trade a 2nd overall pick from the Bruins. As a Devils fan I thank him, but the return for Yak and Hall is this plus Adam Larsson.......gross.

I get they were seperate deals and I know where the value is for Yak but c'mon man. If I were an Edmonton fan I would be pissed after this offseason. they may be more competitive this year but they should have handled their assets way better than they have the last 3 months. The return could have been so much more.

It's effectively Lucic + Larsson + Russell in, Hall + Yakupov out.

He had a wink, wink deal with Lucic in place before he made the Hall deal, I'm pretty sure of it, which effectively replaces that LW spot.

Yakupov for cap room lets them sign Russell for basically 600k.

Hall was a good player, but they got a good player back in Larsson, who's also a very high draft pick and a lot of people were saying the Oilers should take Larsson no.1 overall in 2012.

Yakupov on the other hand really wasn't a good player. Kris Russell helps them more than Nail Yakupov does.

I get all of that and I am a Devils fan. His trades all just seem forced. He waits to make moves until he has too and then doesn't get full value because everyone knows he has to do something.

They could have traded Yak last summer and gotten a better return. Larsson is a nice young player as well but Taylor Hall should get you more.

If Edmonton fans are happy with these changes then great but from an outsider they have not been getting full value for their players via trade.

Patrik Stefan 455 gp 64-124-188 0.141 gpg 0.273 apg 0.413 ppg

Nail Yakupov 250 gp 50-61-111 0.2 gpg 0.244 apg 0.44 ppg

Yakupov is better than Stefan.

Anyway, the true 1st overall busts:
1964: Claude Gauthier
1965: André Veilleux
1967: Rick Pagnutti

Yakupov got to play with guys like Hall, McDavid, Eberle....them guys...were they playing with great offensive top 5 picks?

Going to a team with a great D, great transition game, great coaching, great structure and a loaded top 9 with lots of vets. He could thrive there. 20g easily if he plays on top 6. Schwartz - Stastny - Yakupov

UFA signings to justify bad trades is a bit wack. I hope Edmonton turns it around this year, but returns and timing just don't help the team now and in the future as much as they should of.

I have to ask why the Oilers didnt trade Yak last year after the decent start playing with McDavid. Surely they could of got something more then, but without McJesus beside him he did veey little the rest of the year. Timing seems bad.

Hey I'd like PK Subban for Taylor Hall too. Montreal wasn't going to do it.

I'd rather have Larsson (@ 4 million per) for Hall than Hall + Draisaitl + Puljujarvi/Nurse for Subban (@9 million per).

I think Jacob Trouba for Taylor Hall is maybe the trade that should've happened that didn't, but Larsson I think is a better actual defender than Trouba. Trouba has more offensive upside because of a better point shot, but neither has really exploded offensively at the NHL level yet.

Trouba also wants more money and may or may not want to be in Canada period, Larsson is far less of a headache.

I'd like for New Jersey to have added one more decent piece for Hall, but in the end it wasn't worth scuttling the deal over I don't think. Larsson/Klefbom is a cost controlled top pairing for Edmonton which is very cheap ($8 million combined for both), that could be huge for the Oilers later on in keeping McDavid/Draisaitl/RNH/Puljujarvi together.

The way I see it, had Edmonton retained Yak he would be taking the space of someone that might actually be able to help the team. Yak's value was low, as shown by this deal, but keeping him was likely a bigger mistake for the organization.

Somehow Chiarelli, Benning and Sweeney led a management team that won a cup. Kind of underscores how the Canucks lost a Stanley Cup. Boston was lucky.

Is there a worse GM at trading than these three right now?

Boston was lucky? Maybe you can say that luck played a role, but the Canucks were an inferior team and were outplayed by Boston. Thomas played better than Luongo, the offense was more consistent. Not to mention the choke job that Vancouver did in Game 7.

and why are these bad trades may I ask? Larsson fills a MASSIVE need and Yak was never that good and he's a bust

...Does it, though?

I'm not sure if I'd call Lucic a fair replacement for Taylor Hall. :help:

Stl has the depth where they could deploy Yak in perfect situations. He can be an o zone and PP specialist only there. And if Yak can't find a way to succeed in that situation, it's back to the KHL for him. Nothing really lost for the blues.

I'm not sure if I'd call Lucic a fair replacement for Taylor Hall. :help:

Lucic had 10 fewer points than Hall but brings far more physical play, experience, and better defensive play than Hall, and the age difference between the two is only actually 3 years to boot.

That and getting gifted Jesse Puljujarvi (yet another winger) at the draft basically sealed it I think for Hall.

Adam Larsson is a no.4 overall pick himself, a lot of people on this board were saying the Oilers should take him no.1 overall in 2011. He's a right shot, young d-man that the Oilers needed in the worst way.
