My impression of Koskinen from years past is that his biggest skill is growing really tall... hope I'm proven right. On a one year deal it's a good signing by the Oilers.

Edmonton
Edmonton needs a backup, Koskinen has proven everything there is to prove in the KHL. Good deal for both.

What’s interesting now is both his deal and Talbots expire at the same time.

Happy with this. Will his success transition to the NHL? Hard to say, but he’s earned the chance. Goalies seem to have different development curves. Hell, it took Hasek until he was 28 to be a full time starter and he’s one of the greatest ever.

If it doesn’t work, it’s only a 1 year commitment. The competition between Talbot and Koskinen should be a good thing. Plus it gives us a full time Finn in the dressing room to help Puljujarvi.

Yay another question mark! Guess this is the end of Montoya? Anyone want him? :sarcasm:

With the 3 goalies we are sitting at roughly..65 mill spent. That leaves us 10 mill in capspace to sign...a lot of the team. Also whatever the cap goes up say 3 more mill for a total of 13 mill.

Out of curiosioty, what are the claims that Shestyorkin is better based on?

Mostly from the fact that Shesty had significantly better numbers than Koskinen in 2016-17. To be fair, Koskinen had some injury issues that year, but Shesty was 1.64/.937 in 39 games while Koskinen was 2.08/.916 in 23 games.

Very good signing by Oilers. Now find good top4 LD or RD and this team will have promising next season.

No question some moves will be made... Unless Chia has somehow gotten more dumb
