Also could have been simply the result of being down and needing to play your more offensive minded defenders more, with Siegs simply being a product of being paired with Dougie. We'll see if it means anything.

That wouldn't really explain Bahl getting 2 minutes more and Marino getting 3 minutes more of ice time last night.

Also, Graves still played at least 18:43 in every game versus the Rangers, including a few blowouts.

Nobody told me there'd be days like these...

I've never seen so many moronic Canes fans on instagram 🙄 you thought they just won the cup😄
they root for a win now all in team. They have this season and next season before there is a pretty good chance their core starts to dissipate. It will be interesting to see if ownership changes course over there and starts paying guys when they hit UFA. So far they haven't really been willing to commit to that.

I know we are discussing the lack of foot speed from some defenseman but I think the more important issue was the lack of decision speed.

You can be slow with your feet as long as you’re fast with your head. The Rangers series was pretty slow and methodical at most times so the Devils brains need to speed back up to match the speed of Carolina’s decisions.

I think the Devils brains sped up as the game went on so I think this won’t be as big an issue in game 2. It may be an issue through the whole series as Carolina appears to have less reads for their team to make and so will likely always make decisions faster.

I’m all for taking Graves out, but who’s gonna replace him on the PK? That’s the only reason I can really see Lindy keeping him in the lineup.

Marino & Siegenthaler on the first PK pair, Bahl & Severson on the 2nd unit. Hamilton steps in if any of those 4 are in the box.

Bahl averaged only 0:52 during the regular season on the PK, so he would see the biggest increase in minutes to make up for Graves' 2:24.

Ya I thnk it took awhile for the Devils to switch from the Rangers game style to the Canes . Almost complete opposites. They lokked better and better as the game went along.
Getting Some rest , go over video and gameplan , get their heads into this series and their opponent and away we go.
It would be hard to flip the switch from ome gamestyle and system to another.
Meier will help us and we will figure out how to generate more chances.

Given the quick turnaround from last series, I don't put too much weight in our poor play early in last nights game.

Conversely given Carolina getting out to that lead, I don't put too much weight in us playing better latter in the game.

Speaking of Luke - not sure if this was posted elsewhere, but Michigan Hockey posted this I think when we were down 2-0 last night...and they're not wrong.

Like it’s funny, but it’s also kind of weird for a team of that status to do that lol… Even if I want him to play, it’s not unheard of for a rookie with like 2 games under his belt to be around the team but not play in the playoffs.

His spot is secured next year. Being around the team and practicing has value.

Safe travels, sir. Are you going on a darkness retreat? Lol
Aaron Rodgers, I'm not.

But I do want Aaron Rodgers' money, though. :naughty::naughty::naughty::naughty:

No. I'm headed to Greece to visit relatives.

I think he's going to Sweden to talk to Bratt's family about his play and contract demands.
Close....wait! Is Greece close to Sweden? :sarcasm:

The team just forgot they are a wagon.

They'll remember after a good night's sleep and team breakfast.

Go get 'em
