Could he though?

Tim Thomas in the 2011 cup run that people touch themselves over:

1.98 GAA / .940 SV% / 4 SO

Rask in 2013 and 2019 cup runs:

'13 - 1.88 GAA / .940 SV% / 3 SO
'19 - 2.02 GAA / .934 SV% / 2 SO

^Thomas is seen as a god for his performance....Rask is blamed for the '13 and '19 cup losses. I've posted in other threads how Marchand gets no blame for 2013, yet recorded zero points in the finals or how Paille & Kelly were 2 of or top 4 goal scorers in that series. Last year the offense was held to 2 goals or less in 4 of the 7 games against the Blues. But at the end of the day you ask Bruins fans why Boston lost those two Cup and many will say Rask.

I do lol. Any little thing they can find to complain about Rask they take it an run. Tnere were people complaining because of his freaking hat. This dude could win a cup as a starter and people will still bitch about him.

Again if Bergeron said it, no one would care.

There seem to be a lot more posters having a problem with this than the usual suspects.

Exactly. I think Rask's game is not where it was when the season ended - but how could it be? After five months off, you're not going to be in playoff form and rhythm after a handful of games. Rask knows that. He knows his game isn't where it could be – but what he's saying is that he's not going to let it bother him. People read that as "not caring." That's an incorrect read, imo. What he's saying is that he's not stressing over it.

He's at his best when he's relaxed and mentally focussed – we've seen this in the past. And that's where he is. Contrary to what some here are saying, I think he's in exactly the right head space to play at his best.
His game will come around.

Also, I doubt Halak's game is in any better condition. I like Halak – he's a very good option as backup. But he's not a better option than Rask.
Agreed.

I for one would like to keep him relaxed. Imagine a story came out he had jammed himself onto the second shelf of his hotel linen closet, stark naked with a bowl of Cheerios, sobbing uncontrollably about the stress of it all.

Do we want that type of guy in net? No. No we do not.

Still don't really see why everyone is freaking out. All he said hes not in prime shape after 4mo off (I think many would agree that these guys wouldn't be in prime form). Then he said he trying to have fun and not stress about results. Some guys play better taking a just have fun approach, some guys don't and need to stress about things. Maybe Rask feels he's at his best when he's just out there having fun.

At the end of the day this is just another thing the anti-Rask crowd wants to get pissy about because they want to dislike Rask. If Bergeron said it, no one bats a f***ing eye over the comment.

He hasn’t developed the clout that Bergeron has. Bergeron played with a collapsed lung in game six against Chicago. I thought he did ,I’m not sure if I’m wrong somebody could correct me. He’s got my respect until he retires. He doesn’t complain or say controversial stuff in public. He loves what he does for a living. Always puts the team first.

It has been mentioned in this thread that Canes fans must be the least knowledgeable fans in the league.

Yet we have fans who think the Bruins lost in 2013 and 2019 because of the goalie who carried them to the finals.

Oh lol. IMO each fan base has low knowledge hockey fans and high knowledge hockey fans. Seems more like people attribute "hockey knowledge" to a teams market size/popularity

Irrelevant. The complaint people have is the comment. If you're going to tell me that its ok if one guy says it but not another, then its not the comment that's the problem, its who is coming from.....which pretty much proves my point

Well can your point be irrelevant because your bringing up something that has never happened so you can prove your point.

When's the last time the Bruins actually had a proper practice, Monday? Such a weird start to the series with the postponement.

Enough already. Your agenda is stale and nauseating. Move on.

I don’t understand his schizophrenic agenda posting at all. I was reading some posts last week shredding the Bruins along with the Cane fans even though I thought I remembered him as a B’s fan but it was so nasty, I thought the person had a change of heart. I just have no idea why a “fan” like that would ever bother watching a team they apparently hate.....alot.

Just a reminder that statistically they put together their 8th worst offensive game 5v5 OF THE SEASON last night and the current discourse is once again revolving around Tuukka.

Maybe 200 IQ comments from Tuukka knowing fans would lose their minds over it and deflect blame from the offense being non-existent. :sarcasm:

I'd say no because I threw out a hypothetical situation, to which you basically stated why it would be ok if Bergeron made the same comments.

If most fans had their way, we'd have Martin Jones as our goalie right now. I remember when Jones was first traded to SJ and had 1 good year people here were furious that we didn't trade Rask instead. Jones of course got worse year over year and someone whose a buyout candidate lol
