Agree with Benoit B's mock draft and that hughes would be a steal if he goes where projected. But I would put Rozzi and Warren in that category as well.

This is a very deep class and I can see some 2-4th rounders outperforming some of the 1st rounders for sure. It seems some are inflated or haven't been tested yet. Time will tell, it always does.

For those keeping track of trades, there will be some big movement up top.

EDIT: Looks like it won't involve Saint John.

Wait, did I see that right? Gatineau had 1st and 2nd overall? How did they do that?

E: Wait...they had 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 8th overall? Like WTF?

They got Bathurst and Halifax's picks by selling them assets (Mitch Balmas and Max Trépanier, respectively) when those teams were making Mem Cup runs. Always a good investment, since those all-in teams tend to crater after they make their runs. They got BLB's pick in a similar trade with Cape Breton, I think. Plus they were also bad this year, so they had their own lottery pick.

Before leaving, I just wish to underline the great evaluation made by WINTERSUN almost 18 months before the draft. The most precise and accurate so long before. He deleted his comment since but if you return to page 6 / comment #138, you can expand and read the initial post that I copied below. I removed any comment that could be perceived negatively even if there was nothing hard there.

WINTERSUN, if you're not already scout, they should offer you a job. Almost better than CSR who posted a month before.

For the teams more in the Quebec area (with round I expect them to go)

Triolet :
- Poirier (4-6) small offensive d very mobile (drafted 8)
- Michel(1-2) one of the best d in the draft, very trustworthy and talented (drafted 3)
- Begin(3-5) small but high-end skill and vision (drafted 7)
- Dufour(6-10) power forward (drafted 10)

Mauricie :
- Juneau (2-3) playmaking center (drafted 8)
- Lafontaine (5-7) two-way winger, fast (drafted 4)

- Nadeau (3-4) power forward, size, speed, shooting ability (drafted 7)

- Marquis-Laflamme (5-8) skilled fwd can shoot (drafted 7)
- Boulet (4-6) power forward w size and speed (nor drafted)

Beauce :
- Labbé (1-4) High-end skill player with great hockey sense (drafted 4)
- P-O Roy (1-3) Very stable 2-way d, smart player (drafted 1)
- Labrecque (7-14) (drafted 13)

Est du Quebec :
- Drapeau (2-4) very mobile, competitive d with upside at both ends (drafted 1)
- Labrie (5-8) all tools (drafted 10)
- Coté (10-14) fast (drafted 14)

Vert et Noir :
- Fontaine (1-2) high-end 2-way c lots of skills (drafted 3)

- Gagnon (3-6) (drafted 2)
- Guay (5-9) (not drafted)
- Gagné (3-6) (drafted 10)

Hockey Prospect: what a joke !

I make fun of their "scouting reports". They see things most scouts don't see. A slow skater becomes a quick feet player and a lazy one-way forward becomes a player with great work ethic after one game.

No credible organization pays any attention to what they sell (lists, reports, ...). That's only good for parents in search of recognition for their kid.

Great stuff to show friends, family and neighbors: they will be impressed!
Spoken like someone that had it all as a kid.

Wow that James Swan guy dropped to the 2nd Round, quite the steal for the Mooseheads.

On line information is in your age a newspaper. Didn’t your parents show their friends a story or picture of you when you were in it. But from your last statement you got too much attention.

Thanks for my psychological profile. I will save a consultation and a few hundred dollars. Hope you're evaluation is more reliable than scouting services you will invest in for the next year. ;)

Halifax added a lot of talent up front with Vidicek, Dumais and Swan. All first rounders in my book.

My son played with all three of them in the past years. I'd say you're about right except for maybe one of them. Maybe because of his 'regular' grouchy attitude on the ice and in the locker room towards the coaches and his teammates. Hopefully for him, it will change with time and maturity. But I would take them on my team anytime.
And I too think that Swan was a steal by the Mooseheads. He didn't really belong at the rank the CSR put him in. I don't know what they saw to put him that low, but I definitely didn't see it.

Swan has the most UPSIDE of the 3 players need to work on speed, Dumais can score, it can help his case but if he doesn't, he won't be effective , Vidicek can be good shut down player, if he can keep up with the speed of the game.

I see Hopkins and Rozzi didn’t show up for Moncton, who else from the 2020 draft hasn’t shown? Where are they playing?

Rozzi has always been close if not better, he’s also always been the least developed and the best pure scorer. Time will tell.

I think Dumais has been the best of the bunch since the second year of Bantam. Vidicek and Rozzi are close after. They both play a much more well rounded game and are very smart with and without the puck. Rozzi is probably the least impactful or dominant in terms of skill, but he has the size they don't have. Dumais is probably the most offensively gifted of the bunch, his creativity and skill level are off the charts. As for Swan, I don't think his skill or hockey sense are close to the other three, but his motor and compete level (absolutely incredible) allow him to have as big an impact.
