Unfortunately , this season was a write off for the NL kids scouting wise. Geography kills them at the best of times but no Atlantics and no Gator Aid means unless you were scouted before this year you got lost. The CSR is basically kids that played on the U15 team and this year's U16 would have looked quite different . I think Mercer, Loughlan, Randal-Snow and Reardon will all be drafted (Bridger may as well) The thing is though , out of all the kids that got missed (happens every year but just way more for every province this year due to the Covid ) which ones step up , keep working and you will hear about them in the next few years.

I just don't understand how the player ranked 59th on the list can get that ranking.

Before being injured late October 2018, he was the only Quebec forward playing Midget at 14. He started 2018-2019 in Espoir scoring 6 goals in his first 9 games.

He was absent for nearly 10 months and comes back in 2019-2020 with a 0.80 ppg ratio in Midget AAA. A serious injury but nothing To compromise a career these days.

Physically, he's a beast, he has one of the best compete level in the game and a great IQ.

How in the world can he be listed as the 59th player in this draft???

I would bet a horse that he won't get passed the first round. Unless he has the intention of playing elsewhere.

Think about it. He's not 22nd or 29th or 33rd. He's 59!!! I spoke with at least 20 persons (players, coaches, scouts, agents) since yesterday and it's a total shock for everyone.
If you search here, you would see that before the season, my 3 favorite from this crop were...Luneau, Verreault and...Swan. So, I'm on your side body!

@IrishtownBruisers @Benoitb have you guys seen the Belanger kid play? Where does he fit in to this draft group? When I went to his elite prospects link it shows him on his teams 2nd or 3rd team. He played csshl 15u, meaning he didn’t make midget prep and maybe midget varsity?

Delafontaine is too slow...does not react quick to shots....he looked out of place at Magog camp.....Morin from Cascade is better

Always funny to read some comments made not more than one year ago (May 4th 2019 / Page 9)

Loilalty9799 was a real goalie specialist. The "too slow to even make the team" goalie is now a second round projected prospect for the next draft!!!

:)

What happens if the Q doesn’t start with August camps and league play in September? Do players stay in midget if those leagues start and stay in the local schools? Then when Q starts players leave midget teams? Can 2003 kids be returned to midget so they are playing?

If the Q can't start, it's likely that Midget won't be playing either in my opinion.

@wayupnorth that could be a great midget or JrA, league, maybe the maritime teams could make it work if it’s safe and other leagues are on hold? It’s only 3 provinces.

So, as he is not on the list, he can't be drafted right? Weird ranking from Neutral zone on this one...

Don't worry, more than 25 players listed on Neutral Zone's ranking don't appear on CSR list. They're not even eligible to the draft. It's more than 10% of their final list.

That gives you an idea of how reliable this type of scouting services are.

Nz aren't a draft focused group. They look at kids based on potential ncaa impact.

This is how they advertise their ranking on their website:

"With a few days remaining before the QMJHL Draft Lottery, Neutral Zone has released its Top 257 QMJHL Draft Rankings for the upcoming draft in June."

If their main focus is NCAA, what's the point of posting a QJMHL with 10% of player not eligible for the draft?

Let me speculate on the answer: 300-400 parents in Quebec and Maritime at 30US$ per membership. That gives you an idea.

Yeah, I was getting ads pushing their draft coverage in my social media feeds for a week or more so it may not be their strong suit but they sure try to sell it like it is.

It's sad for some parents hoping to see their kid drafted. They sell a dream and some parents looking for fame fall into the trap.

I just hope kids don't follow these sites. It could just raise their level of anxiety or hope for nothing.

Most of the kids that made their list but not CSR list will monitor the draft on June 6th expecting a selection when they're not even eligible.

So everything you read on the internet isn’t true?

How long after the draft do teams put together a list of invitees to camp? Former draft picks, new ones, and free agents.

Usually, it starts right after the draft and it sometimes end a few hours before the camp when teams are informed by some players they won't show up as planned.

This year, it may work differently since there is a big chance that the camps won't be held in mid-august as usual.

Nice to see the kids that stay and play locally get noticed over the rich kids that go to prep schools. You don’t have to go “away” to make it as a player. In fact, it looks to be hurting a lot of kids. Not good for Norte dame and the elitists.

Keep living in your bubble bud.
“Talking Hockey” Replied nicely below so I’ll refrain for the most part. But your comments are backwards and narrow minded. Then you have a local CSR scout who openly admits that he has not seen players “who went away” play for the last 2-3 seasons.
Maybe the ones who “stayed” didn’t have great opportunities abroad. Ever think of that. Some naturally would have because there is solid talent in the 2004 Maritime crop and I wish them all the best. I hope we set records for how many go in the draft.
But stop shitting on the ones who left and using BS CSR rankings as justification. It’s weak dude. Grow up.

Here, my personal ranking (not a mock). 72 names, 4 rounds without the compensation picks. Of course, some names will be drafted lately for reasons we know. I really like 2 kids from Maritime this year: Simon Hughes (huge fan) and Brayden Schmitt. From Quebec, I really like Markus Vidicek. Probably the most complete forward of this draft in my opinion. I probably misevaluate some kids because of lack of viewings this year (mostly for maritimes players). Sorry about that

I hope the best for all the kids, it's just sad that this year, they couldn't live it live with the ambiance and the joy.

Enjoy!

Evan Nause will re-enter the draft and will probably be picked by a Maritimes team in the 1st round, some say as high as the 3rd selection.
Also Gatineau got G Emerik Despatie today from the Remparts, they won't go with Filion at 13.

Other than that, solid mock ! Selections that make a lot of sense :)

Thanks for the note on Gatineau! missed that today, I’ll have to adjust that. And I was unsure about where Nause would end up in the draft. I have him in the 2nd to Halifax but 3 to SJ wouldn’t surprise me at all.

On Luneau's Elite Prospects page it shows him at Wisconsin for 2022/23. Is that just a verbal commit or is he that strong that teams would take him first overall anyway?

It's a verbal commitment. He will most certainly go first tomorrow regardless of that.
