As the GM of Washington I dealt Martin Erat to Dallas. Had a good chuckle just now when I saw that the Stars dealt Erat back to Nashville for Filip Forsberg.

So I'm in year 2018-2019 and this isn't about my team. I'm very impressed with the team Colorado has put together in mine (Just won 2 cups).
Might be the best I've seen an AI do putting together a team (besides Tampa every year since Drouin-Stamkos-Kucherov just wins cup after cup).

So, decided to post here about my Wild GM Mode, and propably will keep posting if i'm motivated enough lol.
Currently starting the 2017-2018 season. I finally made the playoffs last season, after missing the playoffs in seasons 2014-2017, though i for some reason made the playoffs in my first year as the GM (2013-2014).
Current Line-up:

Propably going to trade Joel Armia for a better 3rd liner, or a 4th liner and bump Frattin up to 3rd. And going to trade Scandella away since $4.020M Cap Hit is way too much for a D-Man who plays only 5 on 5, and no PK or PP.
And propably the trades that have helped me to most have been trading Brodin for Murray, Pominville for Simmonds (Pominville had too high Cap Hit for a 50-60pt player), and Koivu, 2017 1st rounder (20th ovr), and two 3.5 yellow potential prospects for Couture and two random Career AHLers (Had to take them because otherwise San Jose would have had too much signed players), and Oscar Dansk and a 2nd Round Pick for Dawson MacAuley.
And my top 10 Prospects look like this:

As you can propably see, my drafting has been piss poor, only drafting one NHLer, and that was Sam Bennett in 2014. Although i really liked my 2017 Draft, because Madigozhin and Marhcment looks like they could become good/decent players. Madigozhin i'm especially excited about, since he alredy has 5 Star Skating(90 for Speed, Acceleration and Agility!), 4 Star Shooting, 3.5 Star Puck Skills and 4 Star Senses. He needs to improve his Defensive and Physical stats, although he's a OFD so he wont' be needing those much since i hope he becomes a good PP specalist.
And it's annoying that Puljujärvi hasn't improved in any stat since his draft year, but hoping he could be an impact player in 2-3 years.

Okay, so I was just trying out the new roster update EA released, while editing the players all over again, and first year in I see not 1, not 2, but 3 freaking 5 yellow star goalies go top 3!!! and there was a 4.5 green star goalie too!
I had the 4 and 6 picks so I snatched up Ekblad at 4 and Reinhart at 6!!(the 4.5 green star goalie went 5th) was a pretty good draft for me lol.
but, has anyone else had 2, or 3 5 star goalies on year 1???

I have in past games (NHL 13)
I started editing all of the overage players down to 0.5 stars after that as it appears that the game can add up to 2.5 stars when it generates the draft class. That way, they're at best depth players instead of superstars. For some reason, it doesn't seem to affect the guys who are 18 or under.
Note: I haven't tested this in NHL 14, so it may not still apply.
I want to do an expansion team but I haven't found anywhere how I should do it. Has anyone done this and how did you do it? I'm having trouble putting my created team into Be A GM mode. Thanks in advance!

As far as I can tell, you can't do a true expansion team. You can replace a real team, but I don't believe you can just add a team to the already existing NHL
Does anyone have any suggestion for better sim results. I like to play as the Bruins, but every time I start a new season and try to sim to where the regular season is at, the sim engine has me losing the bulk of my games. And Boston should really be one of the top teams, so I'm not sure how to change that. Any suggestions, or is it just random.

I admit it was a bit fun getting a leg up on the computer via created players and such. However, over time it became a bit boring & unrealistic(Honestly, The Islanders shouldnt be winning the Stanley Cup anytime soon). Ultimately, it is more rewarding to build and manage a team from the ground up using real draft picks & free agents. Also, I prefer playing a majority of the games myself, so it is important that there is a huge touch of realism (even if my players suck a bit...lol)

Create the team, fill out the roster with the players from the team you're going to replace it with and you shouldn't have any problems or duplicated players.

Yeah, Nashville got Ville Husso (5 yellow) second and I got Eemu Laurikainen (5 yellow) 6th.
My 2014 draft was amazing.
I got Ekblad 1st, Laurikainen 6th and Nylander 26th (4.5 yellow).
Ekblad had a 30 goal rookie season, Laurikainen jumped from 78 to 92 before the 2015-16 season and Nylander sniped 47 in his rookie season.
They're really fickle, though. I picked 4.5* green goalies in back-to-back years and they instantly went to 4* yellow after selection, never developing.
so stupid.
3 years with sens...year 1, win the cup. year 2, miss playoffs by 2 points with so many injuries i was playing guys with under 60ov on my top lines, year 3 get eliminated in round 2 in game 7. i get fired
i take over florida and i see that ottawa has spezza, ceci, zibanejad and wiercioch in the minors. so freaking stupid.

The expectations are ridiculous. I have won the cup twice and have made the playoffs every year pretty much and had a 2020-2021 record of 67-10-5 with a presidents trophy and stanley cup but the owner wants 36 wins out of me and maybe a trip to the postseason "but if I dont he wont be mad"........
