I'm not a fan of the way Mantha develops in this game.

I've rarely ever seen him higher than an 86 overall.

Anyone see him jump any higher than that? I wonder if there's some sort of restriction on power forward overall, or maybe their growth goes into certain stats that don't reflect heavily on their overall

I'm in 2020-21(IIRC) and he's only around 84. EA bases overalls heavily on DEF/OFF Awareness, I think. They should have it seperated and let us change player types like we could in NHL09(Ex. Giroux - 90PLY or 85SNP, Grossmann 83DFD, 65OFD)

So I ended up having a first round draft pick retire after one season in my Be-A-GM. He never even played an NHL game. I guess he really hated the Florida Panthers. He was only 19. :speechles

LOL!

19? Miami? Retires?

Didn't know Justin Bieber DUI was in the game!

Funniest thing I've heard all day!!

PRO TIP - That's why you save your dynasty right before you go into the off-season, and then don't save it again until you are about to start the season (or have a backup save file). That way, when goofy things like that happen, you can just load up the previous save, sim through and hopefully your kid doesn't retire.

Don't think I've ever seen / heard about that before, although it is really hilarious llol. Your speechless emoji at the end of the post just completes the moment.

To be fair, I had traded St. Louis for their first round pick early in the season, only to have St. Louis win the Presidents trophy. So I decided to take an extreme risk in the draft by taking Nick Cannone, a 1 star player from England, with plans to turn him into a superstar despite his lack of potential and his fairly poor attributes. So I didn't lose too much, but still. There goes a first round pick. I actually enjoy some of the goofy things that occur, it adds a little variety and interest to the game (like the fact that if you fantasy draft you can sign a 62 overall 14 year old to play in the NHL/AHL despite probably violating various labor laws.
It's amusing what you can actually find in games if you look hard enough (or get horribly unlucky). At least the event makes an interesting story and if it happens again I'll probably end up writing a story to post on here.
I'm going to say I got Cannoned here until I can find a real life example of this, I haven't searched for that yet.

St.Louis Blues Gm Mode

Hey everyone I have decided to post my St.Louis Blues GM Mode team here as I have just started this one yesterday. I will be playing all the games as I did the same thing in my NHL 13 GM Mode with the Florida Panthers that went really well last year.

I have made one major deal that has really helped out my team so far:

The Florida Panthers acquired: C. Derek Roy, 2019 2nd round pick and (CHI) 3rd round pick in 2014

The St.Louis Blues acquired: C J. Huberdeau

My roster 17 games into the season looks like this:

C.Stewart (85) - D. Backes (87) - T.Oshie (85)
A.Steen (84) - P. Berglund (85) - J.Huberdeau (83)
M. Raymond (81) - V. Sobotka (81) - V. Tarasenko (83)
M.Paajarvi (80) - A. Bolduc (76) - M. Lapierre (78)

A. Pietrangelo (90) - K.Shattenkirk (86)
B. Jackman (85) - J.Bouwmeester (86)
J.Leopold (81) - R. Polak (82)

J.Halak (85)
B.Elliott (80)

We have a record of 7-8-2 which I did not expect. My goaltending has been a huge disappointment this season while my offense has been scoring lots. I will keep you all up to date as I look to get well beyond a .500 record!

Playing NHL 13 BaGM mode, drafted Yakupov and a 4.5 gold star goalie so my lines are=
Moulson-Tavares-Yakupov
Okposo-Nielsen-Grabner
Joensuu-Bailey-Raymond
Lucia-Konopka-Martin

Visnovsky-Streit
MacDonald-Hamonic
Wishart-Carkner

Poulin
Lack

My goalies are going to be playing like if one loses 2 then I switch the other one in and the 4.5 star goalie is going to be playing as my AHL starter all season. I also have Nino in the minors still (Islanders, this is before Griffin Reinhart was drafted hence me picking Yakupov and the goalie… I had #2 and #10 in the draft)

2nd year I went 31-44-7 and didn't make the playoffs for the 2nd year in a row pulling a real Garth Snow move.

Poulin (46GP 19W 23L 0OTL 2.98GAA 90.55SV%)
Lack (40GP 12W 21L 2OTL 2 SO 2.78GAA 91.08SV%)

Tavares 82GP 22G 48A 70PTS -18
Grabner 82GP 37G 29A 66PTS -21

My team was overall ******. Bad goaltending, bad defence. Our forward crop is good. Had 5 players over 50 points. Tavares,Grabner,Nielsen,Okposo,Streit.

Yakupov only posted 26 points on the 1st line... Yikes.

Our AHL team went 41-22-13 and lost in the final of the Calder Cup.

We had Zenon Konopka retire.

We hold the #3,#28,
3rd- Casey Weal (Goalie 4.5 Gold Stars)
28th- Dustin Tjordman (LW sniper 3.5 Gold Stars)
Not going to cover the rest of the draft, auto simmed.

During the drafted we traded 37 year old defenceman Lubomir Visnovsky to Columbus for their 1st round pick next year. He should be retiring next year anyways.

What difficultly do you have your trade difficulty on? Rarely trades like this go through.

They offered it to us. This is on NHL 13! Hardest difficulty. He's still a top 4 defender and Columbus is near the top of the standings.

Its now the midpoint of the season for the Kings and there season is not looking good as they are 14-22-6 , 26th in the NHL, 12th in the west and 9 points out of a playoff spot. So with this under performance the young gm Monny Monahan is in the hot seat. Some think he will be a seller but others think he is a buyer we will have to wait to see what the young gm does.

The La Kings prove that they are sellers as they trade Justin Williams, Jeff Schultz, and Linden Vey for Buffalo's 1st round pick, Kevin Porter, Matt Ellis, and Matt D'Agostini. Buffalo is in last place in the league by 9 points.

I got him in the 4th round I think. He had 4.5 red, and is 81 overall after just two seasons in the AHL.

That's what I love about the 1st and 2nd draft - you can find some real gems in the later rounds. It's a shame that after those early drafts, it seems as though the late round stars just disappear.

But yeah - great pick up. Another center, Willie Nylander I think his name is, goes middle of the 2nd round, who is 4.5-star yellow!

Playing NHL 13 BaGM mode...
Poulin
Lack

I would recommend going with Lack.

He has the potential, and especially in NHL 13, if you give him enough games he has a great bump in overall after the first season to the point where he becomes a starting goalie by year 2.

Either way - don't split time. Poulin is crap and has no potential, so giving up 40 starts over the course of the season is essentially a waste.

Ok i would do 5 games lack and 3 games Poulin because poulin usually gets to low 80's while lack gets to around and 84 or 84
