Well I don't know exactly why he came around, but ever since the last San Jose game he's been calling out the refs on their bull **** so I like that.

But that's not going to undo a whole season of annoyance.

I've started to wonder if he requested a trade and is just putting in a better effort in garbage time to look better.

Terrible.

He does colour commentary like he's a fan watching the game, constantly doing "oohs" and "ahhhs" which I find very irritating. He also has players he likes to bag on and completely ignores bad plays by others. Definitely has favourites.

He can be overbearing and also seems like he hates the Oilers and ignores any positive or spins the positive into a negative.

When he isn't doing those things he is a solid commentator. Ive liked him 3 games in a row.

Not a fan at all which is kind of weird because I used to watch a decent amount of San Jose games when he was there and always liked him then.

Side note. Cant vote on the poll, I'm guessing it's because I got an infraction or two. Can a mod PM me and let me know how long these things are in effect for? Thanks

He needs to hide his player biases a lot better. Criticizing Yakupov's "body language" last night after getting robbed and then giggling like a child when Maroon did something just as 'bad' the next period. Make up your mind.

He's awful.

He actually harped on the Oilers for under-performing while suggesting Colorado would have had a better season if it wasn't for injuries.

I'm gonna guess it was March 20/5th game the three centres were playing together all year.

Couldn't stand him when he first started, but the last little while he has grown on me. As long as he stops it with the "Wow" and the random laughing when something happens id be okay with keeping him.

He called out Yak a few times, although I really think the media as a whole thought the fans would be on board with Yak bashing and it seemed to backfire.

He's just a bunch of meh to me. Early on I kinda liked him, but over time you see he just goes along with the narratives guys like Spector try to push and goes out of his way to try to perpetuate them, and it gets kind of annoying. He also likes to treat the audience like children sometimes in how he explains stuff.

I liked DeBrusk a heck of a lot more, that's for sure.

He called the team out when they were playing like trash. He might be harsh on players but he will compliment the same player on his next shift if he does something good. I'd obviously prefer someone like Ferraro or McGuire calling our games but there are worse than Remenda.

Remenda is very good at his job. He is a fan of the game, and likes to see it played right. For those of you who don't know, he lives or at least lived in Saskatoon. He has a talk radio show(formerly the Drew Remenda sports show, now the Green Zone) on CJME radio in Saskatchewan. He is very insightful and honest. Ask him what he believes makes a someone like him good at their job and he will tell you this: you have to be honest, sometimes brutally so, but insightful, and at the end of the game, if a fan watching says I'm not sure who he's cheering for,
You've done your job right. He truly believes that despite being on the Oilers broadcasts and formerly the Sharks, that shouldn't be portrayed during a broadcast. He wants to be neutral, and just provide commentary, both positive and negative, on the game in front of him.

And I think he is one of the best colour guys out there....just my 2 cents.

I would totally be on board with that description of him if he didn't do stuff like last night complaining about Yak's body language after he missed a grade A chance, and then chuckle about how funny it is when Maroon does the exact same thing later in the game. He still has some work to do to be a truly neutral guy that calls it like it is all the time. Not sure if these guys get talking points from their superiors for narratives they need to perpetuate or what, but that kind of thing is so easy for the audience to spot and question.

I'm ok with him. He's honest and much of his commentary is actually on point to the game at hand, unlike some other colour guys. He says things sometimes (or reacts to things) in a way that bothers me for a moment or two.

Overall not a great colour guy, but decent IMHO.

I don't even care about his biases. I just find him to be a terrible color guy.

He just never adds anything even a little interesting. He just explains the most basic parts of hockey and talks like he's telling some age old secret when doing it.

That might work in a market like San Jose, but not here.

I honestly think 90% of the posters on here could provide more "insight" than he does.

He's bad, ditch him. Most of the game he spends talking about the opposing team. As the Oilers colour man, he's supposed to add colour to the Oilers broadcast with insightful observations and stories. If I want insightful observations and stories about the team the Oilers are playing I can watch their broadcast.

That being said, he's still way better than Bob and Jack who spend 70% of the game not talking about the game at all. And when you can't see what is happening, their stories and filler during the play becomes infuriating to listen to.

Basically the Oilers TV and radio teams are roughly on par with the Oilers actual team at doing their job.
