I personally do not think OEL or Krug are worth the money. OEL at 8.5 or Krug around 7.5.

Their are other options out there so do not get sucked in DS, you have made enough patch me deals which will not rectify your situation. Don't panic and make a move just to show that you are being active.

To me, if you miss on players that you want...and that want to come here, that's when it becomes a struggle and you usually overpay to bring in someone that doesnt work.

Nash - loved that deal, just horrible luck.

Coyle - solid move.

Moves IMO, that we had to make because we missed out on others - Liles, Stempy, Stafford...and those moves impacted our success in the playoffs.

OEL just ticks off so many check boxes...with Hanifin or Zadarov, there is still so many question marks.

What I don’t get is the infatuation with trading for guys when there are good free agents available.

Yes, OEL is better than any FA defenseman aside from AP, but sending out anyone at the DeBrusk level, plus a 1 and/or 2 and other assets is dumb.

Now, if they’d bite on Bjork, Clifton, Beecher/Vaak and a 3, then sure, get him. However that’s highly unlikely.

In the end, this team can let Krug walk and with a few moves that send out guys like Kase, Moore, maybe Kuraly too for futures, can sign Dadanov or Hoffman, Dillon and maybe even Toffoli.

All without giving up JDB, Grzelcyk or valuable picks.

Now, if they’re hell bent on moving Rask, they can sign a Holtby or Lehner or Markstrom and be in good shape via the assets they get for Tuukka.

Free agents can choose any team. Boston has rarely been that team. People love penciling in UFA's but in reality there are several teams ahead of Boston as far as appeal and willingness to pay money.

Then you have OEL locked in and only willing to go to Boston and a cap constrained Canucks. I like your optimism on UFA's but the last decade has taught us that the Bruins don't do well at all with UFA's. At all.

I don’t mean this in a snarky way, but what element does Frederic provide that we haven’t had since Thornton?

A guy who can fight, hit and can actually play. He’s not a goon but he’s a tough player and has shown a willingness to stand up for teammates and be a leader in that sense.

We really haven’t had a guy like this since Lucic/Thornton.

Petro is looking at a 9 million plus contact and he plays right dee. Do we all of a sudden demote Mac and he decides well I do not want to stay here not being #1 and bolts. Or do we take the guy that we have a 50/50 shot at with a locked up term that equals the loss of Chara and Krug.

Also I never said we give Arizona Jake for OEL for the record. It will be probably Vaak, another prospect, Moore or Ritchie and a pick.

Vaakanianen, Bjork, Moore, 2020 2nd is a move I make because that means the Bruins cap for the next three years only had 3.9 added to it by OEL because of the Moore and Bjork subtractions. Still plenty of money now to fix the top six, especially of Hall is truly interested in making a Cup run at a reduced cap hit.

Dadonov really scares me.

That’s fair, I just haven’t seen him in Providence and outside of the fight in his first NHL game, I wasn’t that impressed. I hope he turns into a physical NHL center.

He could have been given a shot by now, I suppose. Why do you think he hasn't been given one?
IMO six games isnt a shot. It's barely a cup of coffee. A prospect comes in and shows speed, has size and .5 points a game over a short span... To me that deserves a shot. Instead they loaded up with nordstrom, lindholm, Ritchie, khulman etc. WTF have they done. Seems asinine. Have always believed that they should be using one wing on the third and fourth to gauge roomie talent.

I completely agree with you on Senyshyn, I think he’s looked good in his call ups and I want to see him get a decent chance. They really need a RW with grit that can play higher than the 4th line.

Trade Moore, Bjork, Vaakanianen and 2020 2nd for OEL.
Sign Hall.
Trade Rask to Colorado for a 1st and flip that to Vancouver for Demko.

Bruins finally on the winning end of a 3 for 1 trade.
Bruins finally get the UFA winger for Krejci.

Three new Bruins in.
Three Bruins and a prospect out.

Hall - Krejci - Pastrnak
Marchand - Bergeron - Senyshyn
DeBrusk - Coyle - Kase
Kuraly - Wagner - Nordstrom
Frederic

OEL - McAvoy
Grzelcyk - Carlo
Zboril - Lauzon
Clifton

Demko
Halak

Cap friendly, young, bigger, faster and more scoring depth.

Two trades.
One UFA signing.

I was not a fan of Frederic in his NHL stint and didn’t view him as an NHLer. After seeing him play in Providence live and on AHLtv and my opinion changed. He just went into this past season with a more dominant approach. Kind of like a situation where he realized he’s one of the meaner players on the ice when he wants to be and can use that to his advantage. There were shifts and games he was a force using his size to dictate the play. And obviously the rough stuff followed.

The scene is summer 2018:
Bruins after John Tavares
Rumor is Krejci is being dealt
Bruins after JVR
Krug trade rumors

Result:
John Moore and a Halak for Khudobin swap

not sayin just sayin
You could be right but it seems like the Krug and Rask scenarios will make this a very interesting time to be a Bruins fan . Sweeney may have to do some retooling whether he wants to or not . I’m excited about possible changes .

Just my personal opinion, going off nothing but the past few Free Angencies and deadlines, prepare to be disappointed

I don't see any reason for anyone to be disappointed. In order to be disappointed, you have to have expectations that something else will happen. I'm not sure how you can be a Bruins fan and expect them to make some kind of big move. If you do, then you're basically Charlie Brown.

Expect nothing to happen, and then if it does, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I’d love to see Krejci get one

they have two Olympic caliber wingers and they play with the Selke gold standard guy

when Bergeron was out and 46 stepped in they did excellent as a line

apparently they have a guy for him as of October 9th

If happens I’m happy with that

I doubt the Bruins will trade him in the next month. Or else Sweeney head could blow up. Too much on his plate already

Bruins need a #2 center anyways. I mean if anything they could entertain a trade at the trade deadline. OR just keep him for the season and let him walk
