Does Svechnikov remind anyone else of Erik Cole

Honestly Svech reminds of prime Kovalchuk during Atlanta days. Tall winger with great physical attributes, great passing and great shot, not very fast skating yet still very good on the skates and in the corners

Kovy had an elite (as in one of the best in the league) shot and I have yet to see that level of shot from Svech. He's got a good shot, but not like Kovy. Svech is more physical, more willing to go to the dirty areas and more committed to play both ends of the ice than Kovy was.

Yeah, honestly Kovy is the best shooter I've ever seen. Like better than Hull. It's why I'm such a big fan. Kovy was way faster and more dangerous in open ice.

Svech is a power forward with great playmaking skill that plays great down low. He's not comparable even in style to Kovy, I do see some Cole in there but the speed is different in both cases.

I think

I think he is a stronger version of Sergei fedorov with a a better shot.
Whoa. I see how this is getting carried away now. I shouldve read the whole thread.

I love Svech. He's a lovable kid, he's got a sick release, he plays a heavy game that's fun to watch and he seems capable of being a 40 goal guy at this point. Let's rein it in otherwise, Federov was one of the best skating centers in the history of the game. Theres no comparison here. Kovalchuk was one of the best shooters ever to play the game. Same thing.

Just let him be the awesome kid and player he is instead of having to compare and make him better than others. I know comparisons are natural, but Svech is pretty unique. He's more power forward than we've probably ever seen of a high russian pick. The biggest comparison I can find is Landeskog that way. They play a very similar game, with Svech having a much better release.

Honestly, I am seeing this as well, with the big difference that Lindros was a center. Svech is a wrecking ball out there, strong on his skates, a hell of a shot, and a pretty good pass. When he lays a check, he has the ability to just destroy people on the boards.

Ehh... I've tried to hold off on the comparison to Lindros, but there's a bit there. I'd say less heaviness with a bit more skill. Potential to be a modern day version.*

*I'm still of the opinion Lindros was one of the greatest players of all time, I'm not saying Svech will be.

Svech is not anything close to Lindros, IMO.

We're comparing a 6'4" 240lb center who fought constantly, scored primarily through bulldozing his way to the crease, and would have led the league in hits if they had been tracking them...
To a 6'2" 187lb winger who lost his only career fight, is an elite sniper, and is a heavy but not overwhelming physical presence.

Svech isn't quite as physical as a prime Tuomo Ruutu. He's nowhere near Lindros. I wouldn't put that comparison out there for the world to see.
