Does Svechnikov remind anyone else of Erik Cole

He has the power, the speed and can play the off wing. I can see him scoring more than Erik did as I think he has a little better shot.

But his turn and burn to the net is what really reminds me of Erik, let's hope he is as successful with it as Erik was.

Yeah, he does a lot of things similar in play style. But, not to disparage Cole, but Svech oozes talent already the Cole just never did. I think his shot and passing talent are on another level from Cole's.

It's early, but I think Cole harnessed his power game a bit better than Svech, and his speed.

In terms of it being early, it's worth considering that Svech is currently 3 years younger than Cole was when he played his first NHL game.

3 years from now I expect we will look at Svech as a completed, mature player who is fully at his peak. Whereas Cole would have just made the team out of camp. It's kind of crazy to think about.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I meant by early. He may never get to that level on those attributes regardless, but I think his other gifts are far beyond that of what Cole had.

I see some similarities, but IMO,Cole didn’t have the shot, hands and skill that Svechnikov does and Svech doesn’t have the speed and change of gear that Cole did. Cole would come flying down the wing and do that momentary hesitation that would freeze a defenseman, then he’d accelerate and blow right by him. That was a key part of Cole’s game. I haven’t seen that type of speed or acceleration from Svech (yet)
