I'm for playing him. I think Bernier can handle some extra games down the stretch considering he's had some time off and will have the all-star break. They probably don't need to put Howard in for a regular backup's workload of games. They might be able to get away with starting him just a handful more times.

If I thought Grand Rapids could help him, that might be a consideration, but I don't see it doing any good to send him down.

I'm not sure the opportunity to keep Eric Comrie or play Calvin Pickard impacts on the NHL goaltending as much as acquiring Dominik Hasek

Yah we got nothing but a decent backup in Bernier. In the offseason we need to sign or acquire a starter.

Just split his starts with Pickard and hope one of them figures it out. It really sucks but we don't have anyone else. Bernier was awful too for a while and then he started playing well. I think Jimmy's chances of achieving that are done but I do think Pickard could still do something. He's only started one game all season. I don't take much stock into relief appearances after the team has already quit playing.

The Wings' should absolutely be in the market for a competent goalie through the trade deadline, draft and free agency. This team will still be bad even with a decent goalie but at this point the situation is an embarrassment. We outshot the Islanders and got killed! No tanking team needs to be this bad. Howie is done, Bernie is meh and Pickard is out of his depth.
