On the other hand the Oiles, with the great Connor McDavid and fantastic play this year by Draisaitl, and great goaltending by Talbot were only 9 pts better. Without those players this club would have been as bad as at anytime. Those players alone accounted for a large number of pts obtained.

I don't really see the point of posting this. It doesn't matter how we improved... we improved. If next year Chiarelli adds a dman and we improve to a playoff team do you post that he was the main reason for improvement? I also disagree somewhat. By eye I felt the teams compete level and structure were improved as well but that is imo.

My post wasn't meant to pump the oilers tires. this year was a failure and I expected as much with no improvement to the defense but compared to the last 2 years it was an improvement whether or not our place on the standing reflects that.
