I'm beginning to fear that there may be a slight disconnect from reality for some of these young players. Maybe it isn't necessary for them to see the bigger picture all the time? We really do need a great coach given the composition of our team. Hopefully its Eakins...

Loses concentration at key times, loses his man at key times, can't contain cycle, doesn't use his frame effectively enough.

Someone needs to tell him he's a pretty big guy who can skate, so if he steps into a forward it generally will stop a rush.

Hmm.

I don't think we can afford to sit Petry. He does have mental lapses here and there, but he's one of our more effective two-way defenseman.

Our team will live and die with the forecheck.

We have to be aggressive all day every day. It may cost us some odd man rushes but there is no other way for this team to play if we want to WIN HOCKEY GAMES.

Aggression everywhere in the 3rd lead to our domination of a solid team. This is the ONLY way for us to play. In like 8 years when we are veteran team, then, maybe, can we play "savvy".
Until then, we have to outwork teams and spazz on them all the time. It's the only way for us until we get better. Use aggression and speed to create turn overs, retrieve the puck, and make them chase us. It's the only way.

I gotta say, I was afraid that 1/2 of the Oil fans here were going to throw their computers out of the window or delete their HF accounts if we'd lost this game. Nice to see that not happen. :D

Taylor Hall had another terrible game IMO though. Outside of probably an accumulated 2 minutes and his goal, he was a give-away machine.

For a person who loved Paajarvi as an Oiler. Perron was better in that third period than Paajarvi ever was in 3 years as an Oiler. And it's not even really that close.

So awesome, really thought we were going to lose though.

I thought we had more jump tonight than the Canucks game. A couple stinky goals again. It's not like jersey worked very had for their first 3 goals .

Was disappointed when Mact only added one established bottom 6/3rd liner during the offseason, and it'll be an issue later on.

But there is absolutely no way anyone could be disappointed in the signing of Gordon. He's everything Horcoff wasn't, aggressive, physical, and a bear in puck battles.

Once Gagner is back, we'll see a much more balanced attack with 3 actual NHL centers on the roster.

You can't honestly think that Arcobello is to blame for our poor play can you?

Hall was beyond terrible tonight. How is this guy not staying after the game to work on everything he does. He barely made any positive plays

I know Labarbra didn't steal the game to say the least, but why undermine what little and fragile confidence the team has right now by putting the guy with the 6.52 GAA in net?

Because LaBarbera had one of the shakiest performances I've seen since the last days of Cloutier.

Maybe.

It's interesting how Eakins is playing Smid. He's not getting much ice-time.

Without question.

Justin Schultz needs to be used as a pp specialist and given sheltered minutes at es. He is a disaster in his own zone.
