Notice I said some, and used the word majority in my original post, in regards to people that actually like barstool. Some of their articles are about a game or whatever and it’s written in a comical but truthful manner. Those I don’t mind (though I haven’t visited the site in 3 years and those types of articles were declining in number then)

I also don’t really think of people as bad or good, I think it’s more complex than that and feel that people can make poor choices based on ignorance, group think, lack of empathy etc...

And Donnie, you and I are not in any way in disagreement - reading your ensuing comments- that sexism and negative isms of many kinds are rampant beyond Barstool. It’s part of the reason I have such a problem with it. I don’t think the globe or whoever else are hero’s here and that’s not what I’m commenting on. I’m commenting on specifically the overtly offensive culture that comes out of barstool

Barstool is a a joke company and I mean that the nicest way possible. Every podcast they do is funny, there’s differing opinions and they’re growing like crazy. It’s all meant to be light hearted, funny and get the viewers involved.

People don’t like them because they don’t conform to the media standard, which is totally rich because the same people complaining about Barstool will head straight to their favorite news channel where you’re told, and then repeat, lies every day.


Crazy suggestion..... if you don’t like what someone is doing, and it’s not hurting anybody, maybe just shut up and let them do their own thing? Maybe don’t jump in a picket line calling barstool employees names and insulting them with completely unfounded claims. Bunch of weirdos, really

I zip on the site pretty much daily, spend a few minutes on it. Find some of their content and commentary on it reasonably entertaining however, if the site were to ever be taken down for whatever reason, I`d lose zero sleep over it

I`ve seen far more sites far more offensive and insensitive, if anything, I think they have tried to rid themselves of some of their more disrespectful content over the years

A lot (if not all) of the people who claim they’ve been harassed by barstool started it by calling the readers rapists or stupid. They think they can throw rocks at people and not have them hurled back their way. If you insult a massive readership then you’re probably going to have a few people take exception to that. Sports teams/leagues and brands will continue to partner with Barstool because it provides access to the demographic that they covet, men between the ages of 18 and 40.

For the NHL in particular, many players are fans of Barstool and appear in its content. Hell, our very own Charlie McAvoy has his own clothing collection with them (Charlie McAvoy). For the NHL and the Bruins, it's a smart business decision to partner with Barstool.
