Rumor: Dhaliwal- Keeps hearing Habs want Boeser. Claims that Habs have wanted Boeser for a long time, previously offered Romanov.

Maybe they think a pump and dump is possible? Playing PP1 and top 6 this season and next and sell for profit in the final season?
Maybe they thought Hoffman would've done the same. Rebuilding teams pump buy low players for profit. Unless they're getting him for free, it's a dumb idea.

I'm not sure how Boeser would fill an urgent enough need in Montreal for the team to give up important assets to get him. The Habs needs are youth and talent at centre, goaltending and on defense.

I hate the idea of selling low on Boeser.

He is the type of guy id want the canucks to target if they had cap space. The problem with the Canucks is not having a 25 year old 60+ point pace winger on a short term 6.6m contract.

No but if your looking to shred cap space where do you start?

Petey, Miller, Mik, Boeser, Garland are all signed for a while
-Bo, and Kuz are probably 2 players that you would take over everyone except Petey in the above group.
-Podz and Hoglander should be playing 3rd line minutes to see any kind of developement when in the NHL

SO I guess Ideally you are looking at

Mik (5) Petey (11) Kuz(6)
Miller (8) Horvat (8?) ???

as your top six which jsut projecting is like like 37-40 Mill in your cap spent on your top 6. On your backend you have OEL and Hughes locked in at 15 Mill and Demko at 5. So your at almost 60 mill in cap for under half your team and 12 spots to fill with out Boeser, Podz, Garland, Pearson, Myers, Bear and Hoglander.

So if Hoglander gets 1.5, Bear gets 2 for 3 years and Podz gets lets say 2 Mill you have 15.5 Mill to fill 2 top D spots, build a 3rd line and sign a backup goalie. 3rd line Cs are at least 4-5 Mill/ UFA top 4 Dman run 5-8 Mill. you run out of cap space extremely fast

Habs need:

Future #1 goalie
Future #1 or #2 D to support Guhle
#2C behind Suzuki

The rest is irrelevant.

Boeser and a 2nd for Dadonov. Might take a first though if the cap stays flat for another season. It cost Calgary a 1st to move 1 year of Monahan.
Montreal's interest is purely for the assets that will be attached to a player like Boeser

This is not how you judge a player though. What got him to the 6.6 million ? Kid almost almost 30 on a b
He had a hit start and earned a bridge contract under the old rules where the QO was based on the last year of the contract. Since then he’s had injuries and has struggled. His current contract was a mistake the second it was signed. He’s not worth $6.65m at his current level of play. He can’t skate and if he’s not snoring he doesn’t bring anything else to the team.

The two situations are completely different. Calgary was desperate to sign Kadri and they needed to move Monahans 1 year contract to do it. Montreal gambled that Monahan could contribute at a position they needed help with.

I guess you could make the argument that Vancouver needs to move Boeser to retain Horvst /Kuzmenko. But Boeser has 2 1/2 years left. Montreal has zero need for a right wing of Noesers quality at his cap hit. With all their promising youngsters Montreal is going to need that cap space sooner rather than later.

Just insert “Habs want…” or “Habs in on…” or some variant of that into any trade proposal or rumour for media outlets to drive up traffic.
