Our record with Blackwood vs without him is staggering.
If we had another guy that was even almost as good as him to play the games that Schneidmingue have played....

Thanks again Shero

No DD joke here.

Okay...I have to say this.

I went back and took a look at Palms goal :

Looking at the replay, I only saw the puck tip off of Hughes stick into the net.

How they determined it was Palms is mindboggling.

That goal, imo, should have been Jack's.

(also...I'm grumbling 'cause it also takes away a secondary assist from Bratt... :eviltongu:eviltongu:eviltongu)

Mind boggling? It was beyond obvious that it went off Palms leg in two of the replays...

Hughes had a strong game.

Hit a crossbar
Made a big play which led to the PP goal
Primary assist
Drew a penalty
Was good in his own end

He had a much stronger game tonight against a much weaker opponent than philly, but the bold is a bit of a stretch. Seemed the same, high event hockey as always for him to me. Either generating a scoring chance or hemmed in the D zone running around with no regard for structure.

Blackwood currently has a higher save percentage (.911%) than several of the supposedly ''Elite'' goalies around the league. Including a couple that play on some of the supposedly ''Elite'' defensive teams.

Bobrovsky (.898%)

Holtby (.897%)

Rinne (.898%)

Gibson (.904%)

Price (.912%)

Slightly lower than Price.

Do I even have to post Quick or Jones? If anyone ever thought Jones was elite....

I think MacBlack's .911 on the Devils is as impressive as Vasilevskiy's .918 on the Bolts.

I don't think anyone thinks Holtby is elite anymore. I don't know how many people even think Holtby is good anymore. He was trash again tonight.

Blackwoods record and Save Percentage are nothing short of incredible on this team.

I think MacBlack's .911 on the Devils is as impressive as Vasilevskiy's .918 on the Bolts.
What makes it impressive is that he’s the only serviceable goalie on the entire roster.

And he has to be used more than he probably should be, due to lack of any options behind him that are playable.

I’ve always said a .915% goalie playing 55-60 games is more impressive and worth more than a .920% goalie that played 40 or fewer games in a season. Which is why I’ve been more impressed by Frederik Andersen over the last few years than most goalies, because he plays a whole lot of games.

Yeah, I think this is it. The chances that the Devils give up are much more difficult to stop than what other goalies face.
Not to take anything away from Blackwood (as he’s outplaying many of the leagues so called best goalies and he’s the youngest goalie in the league to play as many games as he has and the second youngest overall behind Carter Hart) but I think Schneider and Domingue are skewing perceptions here.

They’re two of the three worst active goalies in the league going back to the 16-17 season and Domingue has played on three different teams since then.

Only the Capitals coaching staff and management think Holtby is elite anymore.

But honestly, many fans and media do as well, but it’s merely due to reputation and not representative of what he is now.
